The min I saw Yoni Goldstein’s National Post (🤮) article about the “decline” of Christie Pits Park (a true gem in Toronto and a place where I’m raising my kid) I knew it was going to be some Zionist bulkshit.
Ah, we’ve entered the dystopian wildfire poison air era of summer. Good think our Banker Daddy PM is building more of dem pipelines. That’ll help!
This whole article reads like the whiniest “nobody taught me how to teach.” The fastest google search shows that the prof’s home institution has many multiple faculty teaching supports. Maybe he should have used them.
@thebikinglawyer.bsky.social This guy nearly ran my 5 year old down on the sidewalk on Dupont. Perhaps not the advertising you’re looking for.
It was a pleasure to meet @profdanhicks.bsky.social, artist @sameerfarooq.bsky.social, & @romtoronto.bsky.social Global Africa curator Tandazani Dhlakama for an important talk on reimagining collections. As Hicks said, it’s time to take a jackhammer to the institutions (return the totem poles!!!!).
I think I nailed it? Mary Wollstonecraft for an “iconic mothers” themed baby shower.
So apparently the painter George Catlin had his mind blown that First Nations people of the Great Plains breathed through their noses??? There's no way that white people were going around literally mouth breathing until the 1800s, right? RIGHT? Historians, send help! My interest is so piqued!
I can’t fucking handle the dystopian capitalist hellscape that is LinkedIn
Happy Superb Owl Sunday to all who celebrate! www.veritafineart.com/shop/p/kathl...
He also talked to ghosts, banned Chinese immigration, refused to accept Jewish refugees of the holocaust, and said this about Hitler: “he is really one who truly loves his fellow-men, and his country, and would make any sacrifice for their good.” Citizenship for me but not for thee, it seems.
Proud to be speaking on Kent Monkman, genocide, and queering art history today at UAAC/AAUC at York University.
Making my way over to York University this week to present a paper on Kent Monkman and colonial ‘gendercide’ at UAAC/AAUC (Universities Art Association of Canada). Come join me tomorrow for the panel Queer(ing) Early Modern Art at 4PM in ACW 302. lnkd.in/gUP2SReH
Solidarity with my support staff colleagues and friends, who are striking for job security in a hugely mismanaged and exploitative working culture.
It’s heartwarming to see Christie Pits packed in support for Palestine. Shame (as usual) on counsellor Diane Saxe for trying to sabotage this important event.
It is 40 degrees Celsius in Toronto (did you think Canada was cold?!) and my wildflowers are the only living things happy about it.
If you’re wondering how shit Toronto police are (with their billion plus budget), people on Reddit are legitimately asking to *privately hire* our own police force to enforce traffic laws because things have become so dangerous.
Queen and Strachan has seriously changed. I thought the facade of the boarding house was supposed to stay? What a loss of character.
Surely the Bloor Annex BIA can do better from a sustainability perspective than non-native annuals in a ton of plastic containers. Why not wildflowers- waste free, and you don’t have to re-do this every year!
Thank you for your reply. I would argue that we wouldn’t be ready for winter either way— since clearly these companies were unable to deliver on their obligations. I admire @joshmatlow.bsky.social’s integrity on this and the ability to see the (very obvious) writing on the wall.
