It’s been a minute but I am once again flush with donuts

The local donut ladies did a summerween Disney edition. Box of donuts. Most are in the shape of mickeys with one homemade pop tart styled to resemble Book from Hocus Pocus. The other three are a pumpkin, Frankenstein, and a strawberry sprinkle which I’m not sure is Halloween but whatever, it’s Mickey shaped.

Mickey-shaped donut decorated like a pumpkin on a spooky black and white alchemist plate. Post-vacation donuts are bittersweet.

Came home thinking about the squeezy-cheese thing so C bought me one. Let me tell you what, it is delightful to squish

A box containing a squishy stress toy in the shape of a Swiss cheese cube. Gray Persian cat with dubious orange eyes is giving it a sniff. Confirms it’s fake cheese, leaves disappointed.

I’m trying to fold the wash but Murphy is using a wrinkle as a pillow. I can’t disturb her, that’s the law

Gray Persian cat curled up on the human bed (also her bed) with her delicate little head resting on a wrinkle in the quilt. Just out of frame is her sister who is also propped up on a different wrinkle. C’est la vie. The wash will wait.

A disgruntled gremlin is telling me to clean the window so she can glare at chipmunks with clarity

An orb-like gray Persian cat with annoyed orange eyes stares out of the slider door into the eyes of the person responsible for not cleaning the glass. To be fair, it’s her eye-snot abstract art that is all over the door. Maybe she should put on a show.

They won’t look at me

Two gray Persian cats with averted orange eyes sitting next to one another but in opposite directions. I’ve been doing all the sounds but neither will look at me. They’re mad but still dragged toys into our bedroom overnight. We’ll be friends again soon.

While we were checking out, an employee pointed at my shirt and said “Brendan Fraser! He’s my cousin’s cousin.”

Spud the seagull sitting on the front desk of the hotel. In the background is an old wooden mail sorter where room key envelopes are kept. A ledger sits just beyond Spud. Vacations always seem to zoom by, don’t they.

I know I’m a mark but we won this cat-shrimp on the first try. Victory is mine!

Pusheen cat in shrimp tempura form. It is sitting on the joystick of the claw machine we won it from. Other forms of Pusheen as food in the background. I love claw machines. I don’t care that it takes forever to get the Good Grab. It’s all for the thrill of the CLAW.

I’m in an underground lair having snow crab legs and beer

Piles of snow crab legs, corn on cob in the husk. A wooden mallet rests on top. I feel like a Viking. Not shown is an enormous mound of peel and eat shrimp coated in old bay. Pitcher of yuengling and a cold mug in the background. I will 100% flint crab meat into my hair.

In the calm

Early morning, empty beach. Sun high in the sky, leaving a ring of pale orange reflected in the surrounding clouds. Freshly combed sand. Still waters of the ocean. A lone lifeguard chair. Mornings before the chaos are bliss.

Knocked around ye olde arcade for a bit. Skee Ball (rusty). Cornhole thing for tickets (not bad). Air Hockey (slow start but then I ruled). Indiana Jones pinball (I’m way bad). Scored a bag of dinos tho

A super giant stuffed Minnie Mouse locked inside a game cube. You have to saw at the cord to release the prize. She is wearing a Playland arcade tee shirt. Hopefully someone will free her.

Storm might hit so ice cream in the dark with a shark it is

Cup of Dumser’s chocolate peanut butter ice cream. It’s dark up on the deck. Storm clouds rolled in. Brightly lit marquee of the Ripley’s museum in the background complete with a giant shark busting through the facade. Boardwalk cleared out once the high winds arrived.
