For most of us, supermarket shopping follows a familiar pattern: scrawl out a list, get in the car, drive to a local store, park the car and return an hour or so later, probably after a nice chat with the person at the checkout.

But Coles CEO Leah Weckert can see a time when tomorrow's customer might not even know they've shopped with the retail giant. They'll instruct their agent to plan out the week's meals and then that agent (or another one) will jump onto Coles' website, make a series of purchases and have them delivered. Who knows, maybe one of Elon Musk's humanoid robots might put the groceries away - if you ask nicely.
