Trump makes a prime time address spreading conspiracy theories and push for more restrictive voting before the midterms.

Also today he ordered US strikes on
bridges and ports in Iran. Bombing civilian infrastructure like bridges is a war crime. Iranian state media says 4 people were killed and 17 injured in two strikes. Iran launched retaliatory strikes on an air base in Bahrain.

As hazardous smoke from Canadian wildfires is blown south east, much of the US is blanketed with toxic air. Politicians from Chicago to DC are warning people to limit exposure by staying inside, using air purifiers, and wearing masks when outdoors. Some cities are using libraries as resource hubs for people to get masks.

The Netanyahu government can not maintain its current course" - Nancy Pelosi on a measure to cut US aid to Israel which had 104 votes in favor even though it ultimately failed. This is the most Democrats to ever vote against US funding for Israel.
Despite a ceasefire with Gaza, Israeli air strikes killed dozens today including women and children in a refugee camp.
Meanwhile US forces are bombing Iran and the ceasetire is basically a joke as multiple days of strikes continue and the Strait of Hormuz is again blocked to ships.

Major wildfires in Canada have lead to terrible air quality and smoke over much of the east coast with orange skies.

Hegseth is ordering testing for testosterone for all troops with hormone therapy for soldiers.

ICE murdered Joan Sebastian Guerrero, a 26-year old Maine resident, in front of his wife and 3-year old daughter. DHS has confirmed the legal immigrant was not their target. Protests immediately followed in the town of Biddeford where witnesses called out ICE lies about the shooting.

Trump orders more attacks on Iran and the admin is saying the illegal war is a new 60 day operation to claim they don’t need Congress to authorize the war. The
US is also proposing 20% of the value of
cargo as a fee for ships crossing Strait of Hormuz which is blocked due to both US blocking Iranian ships and Iran blocking US allied ships. Oil prices rose again.

After weeks of speculation Mitch McConnell says he had a fall last month and is now recovering from pneumonia. He released a photo with his wife and the Sunday Sports section as proof of life while the rest of the Senate posted condolences about Lindsey Graham.
Most of the general population were posting memes, and surprised McConnell is alive.

After RFK Jr made cuts to CDC and FDA monitoring, there is a multi-state outbreak of the cyclospora parasite thats caused over 1,500 people to get ill with diarrhea. Contaminated fruits and veggetables can cause you to get sick 2-14 days later making it hard to track. High risk items include salad mixes, raspberries, lettuce, basil snow peas, and cilantro.

Democratic Congressman Ro Khanna was detained by Israeli Settlers while visiting the West Bank. The IDF was friendly with the kidnappers until the US Embassay and Israeli police were brought in. Khanna was on a tour of the West Bank to visit civilians impacted by recent violence in the region.

Martha Lillard, the last polio survivor using an Iron Lung died at 78. Initially told she wouldn't live past age 20, she was able to survive for decades. Her sister said after getting Covid her lung strength dropped and she needed the iron lung 24 hours a day, and she died of long haul covid.

US Launches Strikes on Iran says ceasefire is Over.
Iran reported 3 port cities were hit, and Strikes on US assets in Kuwait and Bahrain followed shortly after.

Graham Platner suspends Maine Senate Campaign but hasnt officially withdrawn as he tries to play a role in selecting a replacement candidate after news he raped an ex was reported.
Maine Democrats have said they will hold a nominating convention to pick a replacement before July 27.

After oil prices dropped to $70 a barrel due to the the US - Iran ceasefire prices have begun to rise back to $79 a barrel. Ships have slowed in crossing the Strait and the UNs International Maritime Organization is warning ships about operating in the region due to violence and recent attacks being unpredictable.

Trump is cutting more than 30 gun regulations at the Bureau of Alcohol, Tabacco, Fire Arms, and Explosives.
These regulations made by the Biden admin increased oversight on gun sales.
Trump also put additional pressure on FIFA after a controversial red card lead to Folarin Balogun to be suspended for the
next match. While the US Soccer team had made a similar request, FIFA has said Balogun can play; Belgium is questioning the change due to the card being given in their game against the US. Mexico was eliminated from the world cup when England won, and Brazil lost to Norway who will face England next week.

Catholics defy the Pope to ordain four new bishops.

Pope Leo XIV warned the Society of St Pius X that if they proceeded it would be a "sin of extreme gravity” with the Vatican’s Secretary of State saying it “is a schismatic act” and would lead to excommunications. Lead by Bishop Alfonso de Galarreta who was excommunicated in 1988, lifted of that by Pope Benedict XVI in 2009, and now facing the same again.

The sect was founded to oppose modernizing the church and has had bishops who deny the Holocaust. Today’s mass was attended by Italian neo-fascists, and if the excommunications are wide spread it could test Pope Leo's leadership.

• 6-3 ruling banning trans girls and women from sports when states make anti trans laws. The Good news is this doesn't remove the Equal Protection Clause OR Title X, and doesnt reduce the level of scrutiny applies to transgender cases which would have been much worse.

• 6-3 ruling lifting spending caps on political spending by parties coordinated with candidates. Major gift to GOP before the midterm elections.

Europes heatwave is overwhelming mortuarys as thousands of heat related deaths overwhelm families. Average deaths per day in France are 900-1,000. but this heatwave saw over 1,400 in a day and those extra deaths are most likely caused by record breaking heat. Municipalities and public hospitals are working to find tempry storage units for bodies so families can plan funerals for loved ones.

Thousands march in Pride Parades to celebrate the LGBT community.
While many sponsors have cut ties due to the Trump administration, in San Francisco former Speaker Pelosi, Senator Padilla, State Senator Wiener, Assemblyman Haney, Mayor Lurie, and more made sure to support the community.
