University of Nottingham UCU branch
@uonucu
Organised representation for all academic staff, postgraduates, and APM staff level 4 and above at the University of Nottingham. Here in solidarity with workers the world over.
Our MAB and associated strike action are continuing until the end of the month. And our members have already sacrificed their wages for this fight. If you want to help support those putting themselves on the line, come to this show on Saturday!
I'm not sure how many times we will need to say this, but we will say it every time until we win: yet another damning letter written by our community leaders condemning the path our administration is blindly following to ruin.
We voted on the offer, this time through a simple online survey. Again, it was overly rejected (87% voted no). We also provided a space in the survey for members to comment on the offer. Here is a word cloud of their responses.
And for good measure, our counterproposal for Future Nottingham Phase 1 (because we've been doing this work for a while now)- uonucu.org/wp-content/u... #UCU #UniversityOfNottiong #UoN #UoNUCU #StopTheCuts #SaveHE #LabourOrganisingGetsTheGoods

Your UCU branch has put in the work. We can save this university from financial ruin with compulsory redundancies or course closures. Our administration just needs to listen.
While it may look like the only thing our branch is doing is striking or boycotting, we are also tirelessly working behind the scenes to address the financial problems our university faces.
Supporting your union while listening to songs from Rage Against the Machine and Queens of the Stone Age? Sounds like a good time to me! www.tickettailor.com/events/reneg...
More clear evidence that the community has our back: city council and members of parliament have joined our president to craft this important joint appeal condemning the horrific financial strategy that our administration continues force on the university.
PROTEST ALERT ‼️ - Share widely and show up — Zionism is not welcome in our city and we refuse to normalise genocide
"Winning is getting employers to say yes when they want to say no" A massive thank you to @howardstevenson.bsky.social for his wonderful (and wonderfully timely) talk at yesterday's Agnes Flues lecture. The perfect jolt of energy for our ongoing industrial action!

Bit of a one two punch from the Nottingham Post today. Student's are already at their wits' end with this administration's unwillingness to negotiate with out members and now their data has been breached. Leadership desperately needs to get their act together and actually lead.
A quick overview of why we are taking industrial action, the current status of our fight, and how you can support those taking action. #UoN #UniversityOfNottingham #UCU #UoNUCU #StopTheCuts #SaveHE
A reminder of what we are fighting against as our marking and assessment boycott begins today. physicsworld.com/a/nottingham... www.nottinghampost.com/news/notting...
🚨University of Nottingham UCU Industrial Action🚨 🪧 Join our picket line! 📍University Park, West Entrance - more to be announced 🗓️ Friday 22nd May from 8am
Today at 7 pm in the Trent LG Corridor, there will be a student-led exhibition responding to the closure of courses at the University of Nottingham, particularly Modern Languages and Music.
While our organising around redundancies and course closures at the university have been front of mind for many, we are still supporting broader movements across the country. One example is our support of this counterdemo taking place in London tomorrow.
With additional details about the (wholly unnecessary) course closures and redundancies coming out today, we share these wonderful photos of our rally taken by @tregenza.bsky.social to remind you all that there is clear and significantly more humanitarian alternative to the path we are currently on.
UCU stands in solidarity with all those organising against the ongoing creep of fascism, both locally and beyond. We give our full support to these actions and encourage you to join if you can!
Chanting, dancing, speeches, and pantomimes, both inside and out, with participants decked out in their best pink garb. What more could you ask for?
Rumor has it that the council meeting has been moved to Monica Partridge, so the rally may be moving as well. We still start at the Trent building as planned, but wear some good walking shoes as we will likely be on the move! #StopTheCuts #SaveHE
Help us kick off our industrial action mandate this Wednesday on the south side of the Trent building. Stand in solidarity, build momentum, and be loud. Both Unison and Unite will be joining us for this historic action! Hopefully you will too.
