Forgot to post the full illustration on it's own in my haste. really wish I could edit posts here.
6.Tired So, many card games have their own language for "Tap" and "Untap", this game uses spent/active for the card states and spend/restore for the transitional actions. This card let's you get another attack out of a balloon by lifting the lazy inflatable back up on their feet.
Got a weird blast from the past from youtube randomly recommending me a video of this guy's special move on dragon ball sparkling zero. I distinctly remember watching this episode of dragonball as a kid...
4.Careless A more complicated card idea, a blocker that can stand up to attacking balloons that are stronger than it, but has a natural blind spot against anything smaller than it.
4.Cleanup Spot removal that takes one of your balloons to take out a rival balloon. Cleans the board in a way, although likely makes a bigger mess in game. oh well.
3. Grand Been trying to make a card like this work. despite it's simple effect, things can get a little out of hand in a color that also has ways to increase a balloon's limit. A giant balloon doesn't necessarily mean the game is over, just that you've got a big problem to deal with.
2. Space So whenever you inflate a balloon, it gains something called an "Inflate Token" which is represented by that smoke symbol in rules text. these increase that balloon's size by 1 each. This balloon also reacts to and draws power from other balloons on your field being inflated.
1. Simple Start things off with a straightforward vanilla card. so the cost of a balloon card doubles as it's size once on the field, and you can pay more to make it bigger but up to that balloon's limit. so we have a size 3 goat that can become a size 8 if we blow him up some.
72. Further refinement of the diminished form of the dragon balloon from earlier posts. may not be final yet. By the way, the hair is actually a synthetic wig, I've wanted to flirt with that idea on balloons but also needed a clear visual to show that it is indeed a wig on an animate balloon.
71. So within the dragon set we've been working on, the dragon balloons basically have 2 forms, their big one and a diminished version as a separate card, this was me working out the design for the diminished version of the dragon balloon from earlier. And being a bit masterbatory.
70. Assorted colored illustrations, mostly a mix of conceptualization and marker coloring practice.
68. This was a quickly done render of an idea for something we've been working on. of "Plush toy" balloons where the balloon itself is the inner air bladder for a cloth outer layer that they wore like a onesie. they'd be like kobolds/minions for a dream-themed dragon boss monster of sorts.
67. Various sketch illustrations, this time for actual cards that have been established mechanically but just haven't had a card image until now. so these will do. The last one is of an unusual balloon class, their sketch images are always white on black.
66. A series of loose renders of concepts for a class of balloon dragons that have a pump plunger for at the end of their tails. this was a really old idea I've been wanting to revisit. These 3 might not become cards though, they were drawn more as a brainstorming exercise.
65. Sketch for an action card that involve using jacks as makeshift caltrops to slow down an attacking balloon with. still figuring out the angle I want to do this on.
64. So these were rough illustrations for some cards in the game done kinda recently, was also dabling with screentones as a way to ad a bit if shading and texture on the quick.
...The stamina line isn't some static thing either, against a red player, they can switch the top card of the line with a new one to queue up dodges, sometimes immediately on attack. Against a purple player, they can add new cards into it, giving them extra hits you'll have to get through as well..
...You'll mainly see one of 2 triggers, one will avoid the balloon, replacing the card with a fresh one in the stamina line to negate your progress. The other let's you play the card for free, sometimes that leads to the above but other times you get the hit but they get to retaliate against you...
...Even getting past those two things, there's still the stamina check, where the opponent reveals the card to be removed to see if it allows any last ditch actions in the form of a stamina trigger...
... even when the path is clear there are still things to watch for. Remember this is dodgeball, and every time you swing at a player with a balloon, that creates a window for both of you to play an action card, many will avoid the attacker outright or do worse things to them...
...First of all are blockers, these balloons with the little blue dot in their text box are the first things standing between you and game progress. Blockers come in many shapes and sizes and can be answered in different ways depending on your setup...
So in my card game, you're playing dodgeball and you win by landing 5 clean hits on the opponent, each one removes a card from their stamina line like a health bar. However, you have to get past 3 layers of defense first in order to secure the hit on the opponent...
been working on illustrations for my card game still, got these two down. One was a bit more detailed then I had anticipated so kind had to make due. never gonna try something with a ball cage again.
This is a quick and rough illustration but maybe more of a low angle side view might work better? Something like this?
Decided to make an updated version of the flyer for the card game project I'm working on. still interested in getting some additional support on the venture.
Finished another illustration for the card game I'm working on. an inflatable Kendoka weasel/badger/squirrel thing.
