been working on illustrations for my card game still, got these two down. One was a bit more detailed then I had anticipated so kind had to make due. never gonna try something with a ball cage again.
This is a quick and rough illustration but maybe more of a low angle side view might work better? Something like this?
Decided to make an updated version of the flyer for the card game project I'm working on. still interested in getting some additional support on the venture.
Finished another illustration for the card game I'm working on. an inflatable Kendoka weasel/badger/squirrel thing.
63. Initial sketch for an action card in the game, discovered screentones and have been using them to apply quick shading on quick sketches. As you can probably imagine, this is for a removal spell of sorts, albeit a very extreme one compared to other options.
62. Base sketches for the illustration of 2 other cards within one of the starter decks I've been working on.
61. Assorted sketches that came from working out and communicating the idea for a large finisher balloon in one of the decks that's a big flying horse-blimp that flies without wings.
60. roughs for illustrations that will be used in the quick start manual for one of the two starter decks, not all the balloons are drawn yet as some of them still need finalized art to begin with.
Been working on some finalized card illustrations for cards within balloonomancy. been deciding to embrace my usual textured marker-esque style of rendering.
Was talking to a friend about the piece I recently reposted, and made mention of the fact I once drew an idea for a Floatzel/Lugia cross myself a few years ago, although it was more wide than tall. This was made during a period where I was in a strong lugia mood.
It can be fun to analyze weird Ludonarrative outcomes within game rules, like how in MTG, it apparently only takes 4 lion's worth of magic material to end the fucking world! For game design it makes sense, but you'd think something like that would take more power than conjuring a quartet of lions.
So I've been busy working on the beta delivery mediums for the first 2 starter decks on Tabletop simulator, where in each set you get a tuckbox that produces an infinite supply of that deck, dice to use as inflate tokens, and a quick start guide to learn how to play the game.
59. These were rough illustrations not for cards, but for a quick-start guide I've been working on, all of these are of the balloons found within one of the starter decks.
58. So these are the reference and concept sketches for the guy that represents green players within action cards. a heavier guy who more so wields wind magic and stays safe under giant balloons in contrast to the more athletic and evasive red player.
57. So I've been running out of all the fun sketches I wanted to share, these aren't as exciting but they're available. so each color has it's own human character representing the player in action cards, these are reference sketches for the red player.
56. More recent sketches for Amber cards of inflatable robots, kinda need to practice how to draw inflatable robots and tanks and such, but for now these are just rough illustrations to start with.
55. More recent sketch illustrations as I've been working on the newer color division in the game. these are all of a class of balloons that are aeromorphs, none of them are final designs save for the blimp.
54. Crude sketches for another standee in that brief strategy game experiment, this time for a bat balloon. if I had to name a comparable game to the idea, it'd probably be Yu-gi-oh capsule monster chess, a more chess like game where the goal is getting your pieces to land on the player.
53. So I briefly toyed with the idea of a strategy game using flat standees in tabletop simulator, and taking advantage of their state changing to do expansion of units. these were crude sketches of a yeti balloon that I did for the experiment.
52. Random batch of First-draft sketches of various balloon cards, not exactly final designs but exist to give the card some kind of image in the meantime.
51. Early sketches and illustrations for a class of balloons influenced by the works of @squeaky.monster , currently there aren't too many with finalized designs.
50. Drawings used for 2 other balloons in the aforementioned Amber division, basically Synth-like inflatables.
47. These are sketches and illustrations for a more recently added color division that involves a lot of machine-styled balloons. currently not a lot of art has been made for it yet, but these are some of them.
48. an illustration and 2 early concept sketches for a set of blue balloons that all do a similar thing, that being targeted discard but they hit different cards. They're like ambush bandits.
47. Illustration for what is currently the biggest SpellBeast in the core set, Indignation (From the tales of series). A pretty straightforward beater that can attack over stuff and slam into the opponent quickly. He's long due for having his illustration redrawn, and I've had ideas about it.
46. These 3 are bigger spellbeasts, larger ones are named after various magic spells in fantasy media and act as embodiments of that spell. These 3 are all named after -aga spells from final fantasy, you can probably guess who's who.
45. So these 4 are spellbeasts, balloons in purple modeled after Evocation spells that also act like them, in that they show up quickly, attack fast, and disappear after taking action as they are cheep and fragile balloons that pop easily. They are Fire, Frost, Ice, and Lightning Bolt respectively
44. I started to consider also having Rock monsters in gaiaspawns. there's the usual craggy and angular rock beast of sorts but then I had the idea of doing something inspired by tumbled stones. where you have vibrant, colorful, and smooth rocks that would translate to balloons better.
43. Other sketches and drawing of Gaiaspawn balloons, imagining more tree-like inflatables to go with the whole plant theme. They're sort of weird to conceptualize as they're supposed to be these rigid things that are also soft and malleable balloons, it's interesting to figure out though.
42. A green balloon that draws inspiration from the piranha plants from Mario sunshine, the ones with the inflating bulbs. this was the first one of green's 3rd balloon class, "Gaiaspawns". The aesthetic direction with them is still being sorted out but I began with plant creatures.
