OK, bit more info about this. The problem is AppleBot, which is taking up 63gb of bandwidth and 100% of my website's resources, which was stopping it loading. Apple's bots are becoming a serious problem – this from Reddit explains a bit more: www.reddit.com/r/webdev/com...
I have some great news! I'm going to be working on a new report asking why businesses aren't making enough progress on gender equality, even the ones that really want to. findingada.com/blog/2026/03... We have huge amounts of research about what women want and need, and reports such as...
Delighted to see Ada going through the rite of passage that every statue of a person goes through when they're not stuck on top of a building. Photo via www.facebook.com/hinckley.tow...
Lovelace’s statue has been positioned just outside the Hinckley campus of the North Warwickshire and South Leicestershire College, where she will hopefully inspire the next generation of girls in STEM.
The statue was unveiled by two local students and the Lord Lieutenant of Leicestershire Mike Kapur OBE CStJ, who gave a short speech. And the ceremony was brought to a close by local MP, Dr Luke Evans.
Also present were the sculptors, Mary and Etienne Millner, whose original statue sits atop Ergon House on Horseferry Road in Westminster. They were happy to see this new casting at ground level, where you can not just get up close and personal, but can walk around to see the back as well!
I was delighted to be able to go to the unveiling of the Ada Lovelace statue in Hinckley on Saturday, thanks to the generosity of my GoFundMe supporters! The project has been a labour of love for Stanley Rooney, whose dogged determination to raise the money for the casting and...
about the network and seeing how Fieldwork might fit into it. The trip to Hinckley to see Lovelace's statue unveiled is this coming Saturday, 31 Jan. The only wrinkle in that plan is that I chipped the end off my fibula, and it still hurts when I walk! I'm still going, but will likely need...
Hinckley. Plus, news of two events I’d love to go to — the unveiling of Lovelace's new statue, and a Fieldwork-related event at the Uni of York that's come out of the workshop I did last year. I'd love to go to both, but I need your help to get there. ALD is still unfunded, and last year's been...
It was also a delight to meet Samantha Niblett MP in person at last, and to have a very positive conversation with my own MP, Matt Rodda, about how government might work more closely with organisations such as Ada Lovelace Day.
It truly was an honour to hear so many MPs speak in support of women in STEM and of Ada Lovelace Day, and to have my own work recognised in Parliament. My thanks to all the MPs who attended and especially to those who spoke.
It was absolutely fantastic yesterday to visit Parliament for the Westminster Hall Debate on Ada Lovelace Day and government support for women in STEM, which was organised by the fabulous @lizzicollinge.bsky.social.
