Breakfast in the Ruins Podcast
@breakfastruins
Michael Moorcock-flavoured podcasting, with a Hull garnish, broadcasting from the Bradford hills. Some other stuff. www.breakfastintheruins.com Episodes:
Just a couple of days out from seeing Hawkwind at Morecambe Winter Gardens. Didn't have a Hawkwind patch to hand, but thanks to @sonusrocks.bsky.social and @wakaliwood.bsky.social i have some decent alternatives...
Those Tim White covers I refer to. Plus the Speccy game based on his art, bought from spinner racks in 1988 newsagents by grasping teens like me.
I'd like to think all of my games are somewhere in the brawful zone... It's what I aspire to anyway.
So many options. If I want quality - Alphataurus. If I want interesting failure - In Search of Ancient Gods If I want bafflingly good bad/bad good - Mission Earth
Final podcast hurrah with the last Rollers standing. What an ace couple of days. Roll on the next one. #RollingintheRuins
Day Two of #RollingintheRuins was another fab experience. In my game the gang defeated the machinations of the vile Ur-De Burgh and brought Arioch into a world on a slippery slope to law and stagnation. And I got to decorate then eat a gingerbread chaos mutant. Bonzer!
Fantastic evening with the early Rollers. Now to hit the hay ahead of a day of gaming on the morrow. #RollingintheRuins
Rolling in the Ruins Day Two is just about here. I have a few hours left to sort my game out. I probably spent too much time having fun with my map, but at least the characters are done. Just need to figure out the actual game. (Oooh I just thought of something else for the map) #RollingintheRuins
Every time I try and swear off Kickstarters, something like this arrives and makes me happy that I didn't. Thanks to @daveygriff.bsky.social for tipping me off about this one. Lovely work from @beyondcataclysm.co.uk
Maybe I should pay for a month then record 30 podcasts
My pitch for new Doctor Who. These two in the TARDIS. It's never explained which one is the Doctor. Or just let Astron 6 do it.
Final few hours with a magic bunch recording a breakfast stout-fuelled podcast/quiz. What an ace weekend. Finishing off with a lunch stout with the last Rollers standing. #RollingintheRuins
Last note tonight on #RollingintheRuins - Bradford City Hall was a key location in my game and we had an awesome view of it from the function room. And, as ever, it looks glorious this evening.
What a fabulous day of Moorcockian dice rolling and storytelling at #RollingintheRuins2026 Great GMs, great players, good booze and pies. Magic.
Pleasant first #RollingintheRuins social last night. It was great to see so many people (around 20 in the end) coming to fabulous Bradford for pre-minicon beverages. Mild hangover this morning. From as far afield as South-west Wales Somerset, braving traffic jams on the M6 and Taylor's boots.
Read the Gene Roddenberry novelisation of Star Trek: The Motion Picture last week. Had thought about doing an episode on it, but instead I talked to @milesreidlobatto.bsky.social about it during our recording of The Ice Schooner Part 2 yesterday. It's left me with one outstanding question though...
Up early and flicking through the Stormbringer 3e BITR edition this morning and working on the Sunday morning podcast quiz for Rolling in the Ruins... Questions on the 3rd edition, plus a special 'one star review' section.
Mooching around, looking for breakfast, and found some set dressing from the Netflix shoot. Always loved these nooks and crannies.
