Chicago transport, bikes, walking, zoning, biz, but no guarantee we won’t talk about something else. Don’t take all posts literally. Also Fediverse/Threads: chicagotransportassociation@threads.net
Seriously, thanks to those at Friends of the Parks who fought to keep the Solider Field parking lot. Not only will it scar the Lakefront for decades to come, we will have also given up a beautiful building, tourist dollars, and thousands of works of art. www.nbclosangeles.com/news/local/l...
Can’t wait for the new transit agency in the Chicago area to take over. Maybe they can fix the Ventra app. (And maybe Metra can actually take Ventra.) There’s a bug in the Ventra app where if a train is extremely late, it incorrectly shows up as having departed. Train 306 is late, not departed.
Today is your day to ride the Orange Line to Kimball or a great day to fly Southwest and live on the North side
Just like the 4th of July fog! What a perfect opportunity for Navy Pier to shoot off some fireworks!
We normally don’t say there’s a bad day to bike ride. But it is today. Be safe everyone!
Fireworks in Chicago gonna be a little difficult to see. This is from North Avenue looking at Downtown. Come on winds, change!
Both the Wilson and Montrose bridges on the LFT are now open apparently. Although the signage is confusing enough where I didn’t notice in one direction. Yay, either way!
Free bike parking is available. Public transit looks good too. The @obamafoundation.bsky.social knows the best ways here
Yikes the @chicagocta.bsky.social brown line is on fire at Belmont www.threads.com/@kevinmcpict...
I don’t understand the idea that gentrification is going to happen after bike lanes are installed. In the gentrified area I live in, we just got significant improvements on par with these proposed changes. Also the guy that killed BRT is back for bike lanes now…
This mega projects bill for the Bears is still a giveaway to the very rich. Let em go to Indiana. @govpritzker.illinois.gov chicago.suntimes.com/bears-stadiu...
Does Metra actually collect the $5 for buying the tickets on the train if there are vending machines? Doesn’t seem like they do it out of OTC, ever. Wastes everyone’s time that actually already paid because we keep our phones on.
This is complete garbage, just like the Bears. If this is an “economically depressed area” it is because the Bulls owners refused to sell their land to someone who would develop it. The white hot West Loop is within walking distance and the city built a new CTA station already.
This is a great idea that your theatre ticket is a free Metra ticket. One of the biggest reasons suburbanites drive is they don’t want to buy their entire family a ticket because it’s “cheaper” to drive.
Yeesh no. The RLE is a mismanaged project that never appropriately studied many alternatives like use of the Metra Electric. Even if you don’t care about that, look how much Carter and his team f-ed up the execution of this. Link: citythatworks.substack.com/p/the-red-li...
This project is probably the worst use of the city’s transit money. RTA could have implemented a CTA frequency service on the Metra Electric and added supporting bus service, well before this will be done. Not to mention this is 5-6x more expensive at a time when the city is broke…
The Bears can seriously take a hike. Disappointed that Buckner is sponsoring this bill, as is a good supporter of better streets. Stadiums don’t make enough money to deserve public funds. Period. theweek.com/sports/taxpa...
The brown line has not been running outbound from Belmont for about 30 minutes and this is the alert they send?
Look, it’s @wired.com doing amazing reporting on the violent DHS Chicago South Shore raids. www.wired.com/story/border...
I love that there’s a No Kings family-friendly rally blocks away from where ICE tear gassed a Halloween parade. Well done, Irving Park
There’s really no excuse, Chicago! There are so many No Kings events Saturday that you have to try to miss it. See you at the main Chicago one in Grant Park at 1:30pm Saturday!
Chicago, we will see you Saturday at 1:30pm at Butler Field!
I hope that the @chicagocta.bsky.social gets reimbursed for this delivery robot destroying a bus shelter.
The Feds are full of it. Nothing Illinois does will make them happy. This is punishment for not rolling over to ICE and other policies. A vote for Republicans today is a vote against yourself and the state www.yahoo.com/news/article...
Get out there everyone. This is the whole point of a No Kings march
We need to lure the Lucas Museum back! Who needs the Bears anyway
Oh great. I can be run over by a non-human driver
Hey @durbin.senate.gov @duckworth.senate.gov an idea: When asked why they are not attending, Democrats should reply: “We do not treat a lawless autocrat who attacks our democracy, demonstrates contempt for Congress, and covers up for pedophiles like a normal president.” substack.com/app-link/pos...
