Corporate Europe Observatory (CEO) challenges the influence of Big Business and corporate lobby groups in EU policy-making. 🐘 @corporateeurope@mstdn.social 👉 linktr.ee/corporateeurope
Check out Deregulation Watch for the latest update on the Chemicals Omnibus which will roll-back protections against harmful substances in cosmetics. But progressive MEPs, some member states & civil society fought back against the Commission's worst proposals. corporateeurope.org/en/deregulat...
Tomorrow @ 11am CEST: Webinar on the deregulation of EU permitting rules, at request of Big Tech, Big Oil & mining lobbies🦹♂️ ❓How will it affect communities + nature Lessons from 🇮🇪 data centres + 🇸🇪 mines + 🇩🇪 🇮🇹 CO2 pipelines Last chance to register TODAY: cloud.corporateeurope.org/apps/forms/s...
The Critical Chemicals Alliance should support a genuinely sustainable transition for Europe's chemicals sector - not reinforce the status quo. We're pleased to have joined 30 other CSOs calling for fundamental reform of the Alliance. Read more 👇 corporateeurope.org/en/2026/07/c...
The Critical Chemicals Alliance risks: ⚠️ Reinforcing incumbent industry interests ⚠️ Sidelining civil society & independent expertise ⚠️ Prioritising preservation of existing production over change ⚠️ Undermining climate, environmental & public health objectives corporateeurope.org/en/2026/07/c...
Following Monday's report with @eeb.org to expose the corporate capture of the European Commission's Critical Chemicals Alliance, today 31 CSOs have demanded it is fundamentally reformed - or scrapped entirely. Read the letter and the report here: corporateeurope.org/en/2026/07/c...
This is what corporate capture looks like. Subscribe to our newsletter to be the first to read our content and share it, because sunlight is a great disinfectant! corporateeurope.org/en/newsletter
Instead we want an industrial policy for the chemicals sector which leads to ✅ safer and healthier environments for citizens and workers ✅ cleaner and greener chemicals www.corporateeurope.org/en/2026/07/c...
Overall our concerns with the origins, structure, governance, and direction of the Critical Chemicals Alliance run deep. We fear it could lead to ❌ less action on the chemicals, plastics, and climate crises ❌ more deregulation www.corporateeurope.org/en/2026/07/c...
The detoxification agenda – tackling harmful chemicals – is entirely absent from the industry-dominated Critical Chemicals Alliance. Instead it looks as if really problematic substances and their production sites could be given a boost by the alliance 🫨 www.corporateeurope.org/en/2026/07/c...
With such corporate dominance it is not surprising that, when things get put to a vote in the Critical Chemicals Alliance, the outcome is a foregone conclusion. www.corporateeurope.org/en/2026/07/c...
Civil society is massively outnumbered in the Critical Chemicals Alliance, including by the big industrial, incumbent behemoths. NGOs have been marginalised and face ongoing obstacles to their participation. www.corporateeurope.org/en/2026/07/c...
There’s a reason why we called our report “Captured! The Critical Chemicals Alliance: by industry, for industry.” It’s clear that corporate influence is shaping the Alliance’s public priorities and investment. www.corporateeurope.org/en/2026/07/c...
Don’t worry if you’ve never heard of the Critical Chemicals Alliance – we’ve got you covered! www.corporateeurope.org/en/2026/07/c...
It's also putting out the welcome mat for dirty energy and big polluting companies to shape policy. That's why CEO has long demanded a lobby firewall between policymakers and fossil fuel companies. fossilfreepolitics.org 11/
⛽"Fossil fuel emissions have rapidly worsened European heatwaves in just a few decades", according to @wwattribution.bsky.social 🔥Yet the power of fossil fuel companies to dictate all our futures continues. There are arsonists at the highest positions of influence in our societies. 1/
3/ The industry attack on permitting rules – and the EU Commission’s willingness to rip them up in the name of corporate profits – is ongoing. Read on for some nitty gritty policy stuff… (OR! Go get a cuppa and a biscuit, and join our webinar to learn more on the 14th July 😊)
2/ The webinar will explore: ❓What's happening and why does it matter? 🏭 How will it affect communities on the ground? 🇪🇺 Lessons from around Europe: data centres 🇮🇪 + mining 🇸🇪 + CO2 pipelines 🇩🇪 🇮🇹 💪How to resist this attack on hard-won social and environmental protections?
Yesterday, people from across Europe joined us for our lobby tour on #PFAS and the toxic chemicals lobby. Many thanks to our wonderful participants and to the @greens-efa.eu for co-organising it! 💫 If you would like to join us on a lobby tour, please get in touch: 📧 ceo@corporateeurope.org
Today, 58 trade union organisations and civil society groups sent an open letter to the European Commission, asking it to reconsider its ‘Better Regulation plans’. Read the letter here: corporateeurope.org/en/2026/06/s... Plans that will make things worse in 4 main ways.
@wopkehoekstra.ec.europa.eu, is not too late! You can still add @corporateeurope.org & other CSOs with a track record working on #CCS to today's implementation dialogue on CCS in EU policy You say you're listening... so please do so & extend invitations to groups on @realzeroeurope.bsky.social
It’s no surprise if one looks to the Annex, in which the two declare who they took inputs from: it’s the who is who of pesticide corporations & their lobby organisations. No representative of civil society, no independent experts. This is corporate capture. They are a danger to public health.
Beware of the EU Pestilence! Since 1.5 year the EU rolled out many omnibuses to weaken policies & to deregulate, and they are all horrible. But Omnibus X, aka the Food and Feed Omnibus, aka the Pestilence Omnibus, is one of the worst. Why? With this the EU will weaken existing EU pesticide law.
The influence of corporate actors needs to be substantially reduced – the opposite of which is happening right now - if we want decision-makers to promote and implement a more balanced political agenda - one which centers post-growth, human rights, and well being-oriented economic approaches.
Today, the Roadmap for Eradicating Poverty Beyond Growth was presented at the 62nd session of the UN Human Rights Council. Live: shorturl.at/PZRES Roadmap here: shorturl.at/zdXKi Thanks to great work of former UN Special Rapporteur on extreme poverty and human rights! #Roadmaphttps #deschuttero
The EU’s deregulation frenzy means attacks on labour rights, climate policies, nature protection, and public health. If you want to know more, join us on a free lobby tour of Brussels on 30th June at 5.30pm! ✊ We will explain what's going on and how we can fight it 📝👉 ceo@corporateeurope.org
Our new research, published with @lobbycontrol.bsky.social, also reveals that the biggest corporate lobby spenders hit a record €382 million, 50% more than in 2020 And as the EU's #deregulation agenda rolls on, it's clear that the lobbying is paying off corporateeurope.org/en/2026/06/e...
Specifically on #EUCO agenda today is 'One Europe, One Market' roadmap which contains multiple problematic deregulatory initiatives: - existing 10 Omnibus packages - proposal for new 'EU Inc.' company status - planned new Omnibus packages on energy and taxation corporateeurope.org/en/2026/06/e...
EU leaders gather in Brussels for #EUCO meeting today They will discuss #competitiveness & #deregulation among other topics Check out how the biggest corporate lobbies are pushing this self-interested agenda, which cuts our social & environmental protections corporateeurope.org/en/2026/06/e...

The EU needs to urgently rethink its lobby rules to tackle dodgy register data & the corporate capture of its decision-making It’s time for: ⚠️ lobby firewalls ⛔ an end to privileged access 🔎 a legally-binding lobby register corporateeurope.org/en/2026/06/e...
