A really lovely, intimate event tonight at Waterstones Kirkcaldy talking spies, spaceships, writing practices, inspirations and more. Must have done a good job because I think everyone bought a book! Huge thanks to James for organising and hosting tonight’s event, you were fantastic.
Absolutely delighted to announce that my second novel, SOLITARY AGENTS, has been longlisted for the McIlvanney Prize at @bloodyscotland.bsky.social! An absolute honour and an incredible list. cc @headlinebooks.bsky.social @dhhlitagency.bsky.social www.davidgoodman.net/solitary-age...
Popped into @nightowlbooks.bsky.social in East Linton today, bought some books, vandalised four of my own. Signed and stamped and ready to go.
One week until I’m visiting the fine folk of Fife at @waterstones.bsky.social Kirkcaldy - Friday 3rd July at 7pm. You can call or email the shop to book your FREE place. See you there! www.waterstones.com/events/an-ev...
A fantastic review in yesterday’s Mail! “This is the most exciting new spy series since Slow Horses: catch it now.” I will 💯 take that compliment.
Brilliant panel at @capitalcrime.bsky.social this morning, excellently chaired by Jane Thynne. No photos of the event itself (due to security, which was terribly exciting) but James Wolff, Paul Warner and Chris Humphreys were a delight to appear with.
Good morning London! On my way to @capitalcrime.bsky.social for my panel at 0930, acquiring coffee on the way. Absolutely gorgeous day.
Deeply looking forward to taking the stage at @capitalcrime.bsky.social on Friday alongside fellow spy authors James Wolff, Paul Warner and Chris Humphreys, chaired by Jane Thynne cc @headlinebooks.bsky.social @dhhlitagency.bsky.social
Managed to warn a dog walker to take the other path so hopefully they’ll pick somewhere a bit less busy to chill out now. Absolutely magical start to the day.
I had a lovely encounter this morning. Two absolutely brand new baby fawns, right by the path I normally take. They hopped up and got confused and wobbled towards me, so I froze, but then spotted their mother a few metres away, so I kept going.
Pick of the Month! Really chuffed to pick up the print version of the Sunday Times review I was so excited about to find that SOLITARY AGENTS is the top thriller title for June! Thank you to John Dugdale for the review.
I’ll be on stage with Kim Sherwood, Paul Warner and @cjmerritt.bsky.social, chaired by Paul Burke. It’s going to be spy-tastic! Book in-person here: bloodyscotland.com/event/rogue-... Book digital here: bloodyscotland.com/event/rogue-...
Can’t wait to return to @bloodyscotland.bsky.social for the Rogue Agents panel, which is on Saturday 19th September at 1315hrs at a new venue for the festival, Made In Stirling.
Absolutely *delighted* to wake up this morning to this fantastic review from John Dugdale in the Sunday Times! SOLITARY AGENTS is out now, from @headlinebooks.bsky.social, in hardback in the UK and in eBook and audio globally. I believe this will be this Sunday's issue, but is already online.
I also had a *fantastic* time getting very nerdy about travel writing and spy fiction on the Le Carré Cast with Jeff. It’s always brilliant to get the chance to go a bit deeper on a particular topic and this was so much fun to record. lecarrecast.com/2026/06/08/s...
Absolutely delighted to appear on the @inmygoodbookspod.bsky.social today, recorded live at the Bloody Scotland programme launch last week (which was also release day for Solitary Agents, which is why I sound extremely buzzed). Always brilliant to chat to Susie! podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/1...
A couple more angles of last night’s panel. Absolute highlight of the weekend for me.
And my final panel of the weekend is @franceswrites.bsky.social and Megan Bontrager in conversation with @lynseymay.com - an excellent ending to a superb festival.
My third (and last 😭) day at @cymerafestival.co.uk started with the phenomenal ’Writing Wounds’ workshop with Dr @jennicoutts.bsky.social - if she runs it again in future I hugely recommend it, I took pages and pages of notes.
If you’re at @cymerafestival.co.uk this weekend and fancy a spy novel, the wonderful Matthew Land has snuck a genre interloper into the bookshop on the spurious grounds of my panel yesterday.
And the last panel of the day for @cymerafestival.co.uk is Erin of @mkhardywrites.com in conversation with @stephengrahamjones.com!
My penultimate panel for the day, watching Rebecca Wojturska talking horror with @rhiannonagrist.bsky.social, @benedictanning.bsky.social and @inkyrosey.bsky.social!
Had a fantastic time chairing @aptshadow.bsky.social, @fondalee.bsky.social and Claire North at @cymerafestival.co.uk for our sold out panel! A wonderful and wide-ranging conversation covering everything from bugs to honour codes to the brutal mathematics of planetary evacuation.
Next - workplace horror with @ianthegreen.bsky.social chatting to @bingewriting.bsky.social and @caitlinrozakis.bsky.social.
Next up, @sunyidean.com and @lyndseycroal.bsky.social talking with @emfields.bsky.social about ghosts and folklore.
It’s the second day of @cymerafestival.co.uk and I’m having a brilliant time! First panel of the day was @rainewilson.bsky.social and @catamaroon.bsky.social talking about hope in the post-apocalypse.
@cymerafestival.co.uk is on! And has reached the ‘banners on buildings’ stage of genre domination.
