I had the good fortune to see Patti Smith in Cincinnati a couple years ago and she absolutely rocked.
NPS is also losing money by not staffing some places. I went to Badlands National Park this weekend and the entrance was station was not staffed and instead had a sign asking visitors to instead pay the entry fee by QR code.
Industry there produces just 10% of what it used to. Largely due to disease like you said. citrusindustry.net/2024/05/07/f...
Big time. Further consolidation in an already tight industry just makes the supply chain more fragile and hurts ranchers and consumers. Chart is as of 2019 from a story about a KS plant fire affecting the industry. It’s probably further consolidated now.
I am the actual bluesky stereotypical 38 year-old and my parents were in school during integration, this is not ancient history! The middle school I went to was the old black school in town, it even had (has?) an old championship banner in the gym from the pre-1970 teams.
In case anyone is still wondering, this is also an ADA violation. You cannot augment an appropriation without valid statutory authority to do so.
Today is a good day to not violate 13 USC 1341, lest you be subject to the penalties of section 1350.
Me and the family went to downtown Chicago over Labor Day weekend. We walked the streets, played in parks, and rode public transportation the whole time. Never felt unsafe or even uncomfortable. The city was absolutely beautiful and we had a great time.
Continued hangover from 2008, things were still bad. Here is the same data set going further back.
I was born and raised less than 30 minutes from there and never knew about the Hamburg Massacre until long after I finished college. Same thing for the lynching of 8 black men in Barnwell in 1889.
It is hard sometimes! The first time I saw this sign it absolutely confused me.
I use the rolled biscuits recipe here with butter. I do 1.5x the written amounts in it for a bigger batch. Plus this time I put in a little whipping cream in the milk, it made them a little fluffier. The height just comes from the folding/layers and not rolling the dough out too thin.
