An extract from the Procedural Protocol in respect of the Code of Conduct (for UK MPs):

"Suspension of investigations

39. The Commissioner has the discretion to suspend investigations at any time. This may, for example, happen if the Member suffers ill health or a bereavement during the investigation, or where a related police investigation is taking place.

40. If Parliament is dissolved or the Member otherwise ceases to be a Member while an investigation is in progress, the Commissioner will suspend their investigation until the Member is re-elected. If the Member is not returned to Parliament, the Commissioner will decide if it is appropriate and proportionate to resume their investigation."

The sky today is an amazing, rich shade of blue, with not a single cloud visible in any direction. Just a beautiful spring day, out in the park with my parents and, of course, the Floofhound, who is having a fabulous multi-long-walk day

The sky above the entrance to a shopping centre in Chelmsford, which is an amazing rich blue colour. The centre has a decorative border sticking out at the which is almost exactly the same colour.

In front of the window are three people with variously evil looks on their face, tapping away on tablets or phone screens. There's a blonde woman in a pink top, a purple cardigan, and light blue trousers; a ginger man in a button-down shirt and a maroon-ish jumper, and a dark-haired man with a moustache, beard, and a particularly shit-eating look, in an untucked shirt, dark blue trousers, and a knitted cap.

In the window is a man sitting at a desk, wearing a white shirt and a blue sports coat. (And small round glasses. And, presumably, trousers, but the desk front is solid wood, so really, who knows?) He's holding a phone, as well, which is presumably what's making him raise his eyebrows raised and look unhappy. His book -- we assume -- is on a stand on the desk, but no one's looking at it.

In the corner of the window is a *large* sign, reading, in black capitals, "Troll the author 2-4pm". This is presumably *why* he's frowning and looking upset.

Oh, and there's a piece of blueberry pie on the ground in front of the window, a solitary eyeball looking up at the behatted guy from the corner of the picture, a lit stick of dynamite on the canopy's pole, an upside down bird hanging from the other end of the canopy, and a random disconnected piece of brown downpipe looking like a third leg for the blonde lady, because this is Bizarro. The usual alien spaceship is presumably taking a day off.

Last time I was at St Pancras they had a wonderful exhibition on the top floor where they’d asked various architects and artists to create doghouses, so it’s a perfectly respectable reading!

A shaded sable Rough Collie (Lassie-style colouring, with a light brown coat and a white ruff and paws, but with darker fur mixed into the light brown) lies in a doorway, maximising her potential as a trip hazard. One front and one rear paws are raised toward the camera, exposing a very fluffy white belly, which she would very much like rubbed some more, please. She is contemplating whether turning completely upside down would better accomplish this goal. She is looking winsomely up at the camera and is utterly adorable (even if I’m a little biased). Next to her is a cuddly bird of some kind; from the bright blue plumage you might have thought it a parrot, but parrots don’t (in my experience) go quack, so we’ve tentatively deemed it to be a cuddly dodo. 🦤

Another cover image for a putative Franklin the Turtle book: "Franklin Goes To The Hague". Franklin stands in the dock before a presiding judge who is, for some reason, a bright blue dog with a gavel -- I have no idea whether the Hague uses gavels, mind -- flanked by a badger an owl, a fox, and... some kind of mustelid, perhaps? None of the other judges have had an unfortunate dye job on the way to court, though.

In the foreground are a pile of books, including the super-specific "Legal Law", which I'm sure will be of help in interpreting whether blowing boats out of the water because it makes you feel macho is a reasonable thing to do. Franklin looks more than a little discomfited by his situation, and I should damn well hope so, too.

Franklin Goes to The Hague is credited as written by Paulette Bourgeois and Brenda Clark; I have no idea who to credit for the image, unfortunately, as I found it on a Discord channel.

It has two pictures of her; one in black and white, mouth closed but smiling, maybe in an "I am listening to you saying something fascinating" sort of way; the other, the banner across the top, a colour photo of her with *startlingly* blue hair and an enormous beam on her face, standing in front of tree branches which... might be cedar? I'm poorly informed about that sort of thing.
