Have you read any of his not horror books? They are also cosmic strange and wonderful-weird.
I frequently have no idea why I put books on hold at the library by the time I pick them up (or get them on Libby), and Spoilt Milk by Avery Curran is no exception. Half a chapter in, I think it’s because it’s a lesbian pulp throwback and I am SO IN!
Thank you for the inspiration! I hope you get a woodchuck! I actually managed an in-focus shot of this bug this morning. (See that tiny dot on the end of my fingernail? lol) No idea what it is yet…
Omgeeeee I wonder if this dopey looking buddy knows Serendipity??
Wtf is this The point is to pour the right combination of lava and water into this woman to… keep the treasure intact? Inside of her throat? So the tiny many can be released into her open mouth and get the treasure out? Ok. I gotta go to bed.
Is revenge in furniture like when Josie Packard got trapped in the drawer knob but opposite?
1. Bette Davis by Barbara Leaming, In Praise of Floods by James C. Scott, Lote by Shola Von Reinhold, and It Came From the Closet, ed. Joe Vallese (a re-read) 2. Er… next one? All Our Relations by Winona Duke and Little Rot by Akwaeke Emezi for sure. 3. Favorite? Spread Me by Sarah Gailey
Good morning! Or whatever time… No doing chores for me yet, apparently.
Thank you!!! I’m so sorry for your allergies, those are the worst! I will keep posting pics of this guy. And his brother. 💗💗💗💗💗💗 (He is *not* obsessed with backpacks.)
This is Octavio. He’s obsessed with backpacks. He believes a sniff has not been properly snuffed until the subject has gone IN to his nostril, at least a little bit. #caturday #backpacks #sniffs
This is Octavio. He’s obsessed with backpacks. #catsofbluesky #backpacksofbluesky
This is Octavio. He identifies as a pretty, pretty princess, an escape artist, and a lover of backpacks and twist ties. #catsofbluesky #thisiswhywecanthavenicethings
There is a forced feeling romantic side plot that takes us away from these Grand Dames more than I would like, though it is a break from the uncomfortable tension between them.
Latest #Hagsploitation watch: Whatever Happened to Aunt Alice? (1969) “Whatever makes her garden grow… wouldn’t you like to know?” Geraldine Page plays Claire Marrable always slightly off, Ruth Gordon as Mrs. Alice Dimmock takes no guff.
Jokes on you, they’re going to yell at me to carry them around while I try to get some chores done instead.
Both movies lag a bit but the effects (all from Mechte Mavstrechu) are incredible.
A Dream Come True (Mechte Mavstrechu, 1963) on the other hand, ends in triumph, the cosmonauts returning with their version of the alien, who they have saved. “They came to [earth] with open hearts,” despite the concerns of the head scientist.
This one ends with earth maybe being taken over by the Queen’s alien offspring that the astronauts hand over to the authorities who will “take all necessary precautions” with them. (In the movie, they pulsate.)
They do a really cool thing with her eyes when she’s mesmerizing the astronauts, though.
Queen of Blood (1966), credited to Curtis Harrington but basically stolen almost entirely from a Soviet movie, A Dream Come True (Mechte Navstrechu), is on lists of Hagsploitation movies.
Watched Die! Die! My Darling, aka The Fanatic (1965), new obsession unlocked. I would watch and/or listen to Tallulah Bankhead do anything.
