www.patreon.com/elliesprites I'm officially relaunching my old Patreon as a gamedev blog! I'm going to be posting more in-depth updates there (for free!) about how my projects are going so as to not clutter bluesky too much, so check it out if you're into that kind of thing!
Here's a little preview of where my current project is at right now. Still no dungeon generation or enemies, but I've got weapons and a couple spells working, as well as the whole iso thing.
Quick reminder that by playing Pyromancer you get to listen to @emilyminnow.bsky.social's amazing soundtrack! She did an incredible job and you should go check it out. elliesprites.itch.io/pyromancer
PYROMANCER is out NOW!!! Download it for free on itch!!! elliesprites.itch.io/pyromancer
Alright, time to share what I've been working on! Still a ways to go, but here's a quick look at where it's at right now.
This is Spark, from the fighting game I worked on last year. He was a charge character and I believe I finished implementing him mechanically, but since I still had to clean up most of his animations I never got around to sharing any clips of him before I decided to stop working on the game.
Huge thanks to everyone who weighed in on the game in the past few days. I think I'm going to be officially stepping away from the still unnamed critter roguelike game. It's been a lot of fun to work on, I learned an incredible amount and I'll definitely be taking that with me on future projects.
I made the player really fast because I needed to test something and walking around slowly to do it was boring, and it was really fun and now I think maybe this should be a racing game instead
Alright, tiles still need actual art, but other than that I think I'm done converting the actual code to work with isometric tiles!
New level up screen! You can now see move info before choosing which move to forget.
Starting a new thread for Critter Roguelike updates. Here's where the game's at right now.
Map: now mini. (as I prepare to hit the post button, I realize that it's misaligned with the text and am extremely bothered by it. oh well 😛)
Forgot to share this the other day, but menus are pretty now. Today I'll keep adding and animating more moves. Got some pretty fun ones in already, looking forward to sharing them at some point.
Alright, now the "command" button is gone and the critter automatically locks on to enemies, and goes back to the player when they're far enough.
There's definitely a game here, I just don't know if it's a game other people will enjoy. I kinda like it, and I think I'll like it even more when everything is animated and polished, but I dunno.
