Our report found that these risks are not equally shared. Those with existing health problems, on low incomes, and pregnant women are at greater risk. The UK is unprepared for extreme heat: hospitals have to cancel operations, schools have to shut, infrastructure buckles.

Our second panel Gareth Morgan of @thesoilassociation.bsky.social, Martin Lines of NFFN and Dmitry Feoktistov of @nfudc.bsky.social detailed how farm livelihoods are at risk. They called for a focus on soil health, crop diversity, water management and supply chain coordination
We heard from Emily Hunter of Woodland Trust, Kevin Martin of @kewgardens.bsky.social and Bethany Chamberlain of @rspb.bsky.social on the risks to habitats like temperate rainforests, coastal saltmarshes and peatlands. They emphasised the need for nature-based solutions to mitigate climate risks

Our second panel of Megan Dunford of Zurich, Katherine Waters of WSP and Lucas Everitt of AtkinsRéalis detailed how flooding is the most significant climate risk the UK faces, and how gaps in the planning system are increasing the number of homes at risk.
We heard from Heather Shepherd and Louis Ramirez of Flooded People on the immense damage repeat flooding inflicts on communities. They emphasised the need for better recovery plans and an honest debate on what policy can achieve
