Working on a bison today. Have lots else to do instead but it would have been my mom’s 75th birthday today, so I’m just following where the day takes me.

More frogs! The tree frog has a beautiful pearlescent sheen from the soda firing. The blue frog is a neat effect that happens to cobalt stain in a soda kiln. It gives a beautiful mottled effect. Can’t wait for folks to see these in person at LAcon 🌼

Love how almost 3D this frog plate turned out! Soda fired, but needed a re-fire to melt some of the soda ash. Very happy with the final result. Will be part of my All The Witch's Familiars collection (functional and sculptural animal pieces) on view/for sale at LAcon Art Show in August 🐸🧹

I know that a flower sprouting on a snake plant means the plant is distressed/pot bound but it’s so pretty 😭

It's been very hard working/writing/doing anything since Batman passed. I think losing my mom so recently and then Bat shortly after has irrevocably shifted my center. Still, a sweet neighbor left treasures from her garden on my porch and I feel lighter. That's a start 🧡

I had the funniest thought this morning. What's going to happen to the internet!? I mean, Bat took his job of running the internet very seriously 🖤 💔🦇

Friends, I'm heartbroken to share that I had to say goodbye to my sweet boy today. He was the absolute best little buddy and I will miss him so very dearly 💔 Rest gently, Batman 🦇🖤

I have the best neighbors 🦌 I wish there was more forest for them. I hope they find a nice quiet yard.

it's the return of owlet season in my neighborhood!!

Received a rejection this morning for a story that I had such hopes for. It's always crushing, no matter how often it happens. I'm grateful for all the wins, and I'm also hopeful for the next one. To cheer myself, I'm looking at my very creepy bunny basket. Was a lot of fun sculpting this one 🐰

Helping my dad start the process of going through my mom's things 💔 and I can't help but smile remembering how she would put books she loved in my room for me to read at night. Thanks for introducing teenage me to Stephen King, mom ❤️

when I was a kid, we used to scare one another by saying la migra was coming, like the boogie man. had to outfit my silly doll, of course 🏵️

Decided my bear planter needed some succulents. Sadly, the orchid it held before was neglected these past difficult weeks. Slowly filling in the spaces. I made everything at The Potters Studio in Berkeley, but fired the bear in Laney College’s new wood kiln 🔥. Pressed leaves all found in my yard 🍃

Friend gave me one of those pricey fermented carrot krauts and fine, yes, it’s absolutely delicious 🥕🤤

One thing I did not think about: My mom was Catholic and wanted a mass BUT it's lent, which means the church will not donate flowers from a service as I had thought they would. Let's just say my house is now full of flowers 🌸
