During #FiLiA2021, we held a #femicide vigil at the Town Hall Square to commemorate the lives of women & girls killed by men. 💔 youtu.be/7ya-MSU8Tik At this vigil, women had to stand on those messages while we mourned our sisters.
Protesters also held signs stating: ‘I AM WHO I SAY I AM: Amnesty International’ and ‘LOVE IS A HUMAN RIGHT: Amnesty International’.
Amnesty have had to backtrack re: FiLiA previously. At the #FiLiA2021 #Portsmouth venue, women & their children were greeted by sexually abusive signs held by protestors claiming, in part, to represent @amnestyuk.bsky.social
Where they will find no evidence, we expect an explanation, apology and formal retraction of the statement. We have also asked for a meeting and a public commitment to cease referring to Women's rights organisations and campaigners as ‘anti-rights’. Read about FiLiA here: filia.org.uk/
There is a profound irony in portraying the advancement of feminism and Women's rights from a sex-based perspective as regressive. Alongside many other organisations targeted in this report, we have asked for the evidence and decision-making process which led to their conclusions.
