"According to polling... podcast host is one of the least desirable attributes that a candidate to have." @geoffreyskelley.com and I talked about the wild world of Michigan Senate primary polling and the brand new @decisiondeskhq.bsky.social 2026 midterm forecast model.
The UK is on the verge of elevating its 7th prime minister in 10 years. Marine Le Pen — now cleared to run for president — is the current front-runner against every potential opponent in France. Today @lennybronner.com and I discuss the reasons for Europe's major political upheaval.
"They basically just picked the town drunk in Maine and made him run for Senate." Had a lively chat with Lakshya Jain and @zacharydonnini.bsky.social on the latest GD POLITICS pod!
Reality check: in every Senate battleground this cycle except for Maine, the majority of the electorate thinks the Democratic Party is too extreme. In none of the battlegrounds does a majority think the Republican Party is too extreme.
NEW POD: The weaker Trump gets nationally, the more GOP lawmakers will be incentivized to break with him, and the more Trump will want to enforce party loyalty. Call him a lame duck with teeth. @rubashkin.bsky.social and I talked about this and much more on the latest pod!

This week Nate Silver, @claremalone.bsky.social and I hosted a live 2028 Democratic primary draft at the Comedy Cellar in New York City. Two moments stuck out to me. Both were when we asked the audience whether they wanted to see Kamala Harris run for president in 2028.
I asked Sen. Lisa Murkowski what I thought was something of a throw away question last summer: "Is the president right that America would be better served if Greenland were part of the United States?" She was clear: "No."
Join Gabe Fleischer and me at 3pm ET to chat about year one of Trump 2.0!
Former lieutenant governor of Georgia Geoff Duncan served as a Republican, but recently switched parties and is now running for governor as a Democrat. I asked him about another Georgian who has recently had a change of heart: Marjorie Taylor Greene.
On today's episode of GD POLITICS, I spoke with Peter Viggo Jakobsen, a leading Danish national security expert, about Trump's threats against Greenland. I asked him if the U.S. or Russia is a bigger threat...
David Runciman, Helen Thompson, and I reassembled what once would have been a FiveThirtyEight x Talking Politics podcast crossover while I was in London. Call it the ghosts of two podcasts past! It'll be in the GD POLITICS podcast feed later today!
They’re letting anyone into parliament these days! A big thanks to the BBC’s Vicki Young for showing me around! 🙏

TONIGHT: REVENGE OF THE NERDS -- GD POLITICS @ 7PM ET @baseballot.bsky.social @rubashkin.bsky.social @lennybronner.com @erincovey.bsky.social
Had a blast last night at the Comedy Cellar with @claremalone.bsky.social and Nate Silver! We shared final pre-election takes, played "Guess What Americans Think," and discussed the latest political controversies. Check it out!
All signs point toward a Zohran Mamdani victory in NYC on Tuesday. But will he win with a majority of NYC voters? On the latest GD POLITICS pod, @michaellangenyc.bsky.social explains why the answer to that question will shape Mamdani's likely tenure.
The Virginia gov polls are kind of all over the place. TBC, variation isn't a bad thing. It suggests pollsters aren't herding, but Mary Radcliffe also picked up on an interesting trend that could be responsible. She and @chaznuttycombe.bsky.social discussed it on the latest GD POLITICS pod:
There's just one problem with trying to get NYC Republicans to vote for Andrew Cuomo...
Tonight is the final New York City mayoral debate 🗽 Last debate featured lots of questions about daily life in NYC... parades, rent, bodega orders, groceries, subway ridership. Here's Leah Askarinam's take on asking the candidates how much they spend on groceries.
"I think [Susan] Collins is definitely endangered." -- @geoffreyskelley.com on the latest GD POLITICS pod
I talked to Steven Pinker on the latest GD POLITICS podcast episode. We covered a lot, but one important takeaway was the social value of "Netflix and chill" and other euphemisms and innuendos 😉
