I'm a developmental editor, crocheter, and I bake when I'm stressed. I also love to read (fantasy, romantasy, smut, sci-fi) and have an MFA in creative writing. My family includes a fantastic spouse, a brilliant kid, and two delightful cats.
Finished a commission. Acrylic, tunisian honeycomb stitch, took a week and momma loves it. #crochet #tunisiamcrochet
Scrap shirt that reminds me of Klimt's "The Kiss." Took forever bc the pattern (Lava Pullover by Katerina) was for DK and all my scraps are fingering. This is at least the third project this yarn has been used in. Previously it was a bright rainbow sweater and then a scrap cardigan. (pattern below)
Peak summer experience: sitting outside crocheting while my kid reads me a book. #crochetenpleinair
Soup number ??? Sweet Potato Curry! I've been sick on and off this week and wanted something to kill the germs, so lots of garlic and ginger.
First soup of November? Potato Leek, a combo of @altonbrown.bsky.social and J. Kenji Lopez-Alt's recipes. But instead of sour cream or buttermilk, I used some leftover mascarpone and goat cheese. And I threw in a bundle of rosemary and thyme bc I didn't use them on the last soup.
It is Oct 28th and I've already lost track of how many soups I've made so... Roasted Root Veggie Curry!
Soup #2: sweet potato with ginger, coconut milk, goat cheese, and cannelloni beans, all blended together until you can spread it on toast if you like. Served with local apple cider and ginger ale. And grilled cheese, of course.
Made the official inaugural dinner in the new place (cuz frozen pizza, while a valid meal, didn't get photographed). And bc we started school last week, it was chicken tortellini soup. 🤧🤒😷 ALSO my first time literally cooking with gas and NOTHING BLEW UP 🎉
Signed a lease. If you need me, I'll be making increasingly unnecessary lists.
ALSO are you even from the midwest if you don't stop to record cool clouds? (Note my kid who is decidedly NOT midwestern smartly seeking shelter?)
Reading a physical book at the park, feeling like an actual grown-up. And enjoying the subtle humor seamlessly woven into the narrative. "The transitive property of men behaving like shits" is my favorite. @theauthorguy.bsky.social
For my 40th bday this year, I gifted myself 3 signed books: John Green's "Everything is Tuberculosis," Alton Brown's "Food for Thought," and Christopher Moore's "Anima Rising." There has been much screaming. @altonbrown.bsky.social @johngreensbluesky.bsky.social @theauthorguy.bsky.social
Tonight's RamBomination: Chicken, broccoli, kewpie mayo, soy sauce, and Asian seasoning blend. Andbramen. Not really an abomination flavor-wise. I did break the noodles into 1in pieces so they're the same size as the rest. And bc I'm a rebel. How do you ramen? #ramennoodles #rambomination
Last night's RamBomination: Red pepper bruschetta, chicken, parmesan, and fresh basil. I added some extra olive oil and a balsamic glaze.*chef's kiss*
After a slight delay I finally got my copy from bookshop.org. Can't tell if that's "peacock blue" or "whatever this color is." Can @johngreensbluesky.bsky.social give me a second opinion?
Sunday waffles inspired by daily aspirations from @theauthorguy.bsky.social Beginning to think he works for Big Waffle #waffles
In case you were wondering, bananas and applesauce are great substitutes for eggs in baking applications. 1 banana or 1/4 c applesauce per egg. I used @altonbrown.bsky.social recipes for fudge cake and apple spice cake to make my kid's birthday cupcakes this way.
I even made the cupcakes for my kid's bday last week, with homemade frosting. I've been a fan for 20 yrs and all I've gotten out of it is confidence in my kitchen and the looks on ppl's faces when I show up with a full tupperware. A Scabigail stuffie is the least I could give.
If you invite my kid to a bday party, you're getting a stuffie. Or a hat.
