In January 2001 I visited Australia for the first time and experienced 52°C max heat and 40°C-ish normally in Woomera, almost in the middle of the desert with rocket stuff etc. I couldn't imagine it's more or less normal now in Europe. At home, not somewhere far away…
Feeling this trend in a very concrete way today: In general, I like hot, but 35°C at noon is considerably out of the comfort zone. Heat will persist for the next week.

RIP #MAVEN, NASA’s Mars probe launched in 2013. MAVEN stands for Mars Atmosphere and Volatile Evolution Mission, and it found - among many things - two new types of aurora on Mars. Contact with MAVEN was lost on 6 December.
Great day today! Not only we had an exuberant kick-off meeting of @spaceconomy.fi project at @heureka.fi (and I saw their new fabulous planetarium!), but also the @aalto.fi Aalto Satellite team's #Foresail1p was released in space & contact was established almost right away. How did your day go?
SpaceX finally has a credible competitor: Blue Origin successfully launched the New Glenn rocket, sent the NASA ESCAPADE mission toward Mars, and landed the first stage safely. Blue Origin is now the second company ever to achieve a recovery of an orbital rocket. Congrats!
Historical flashback: yesterday, 3 September 1970, Air France was the 1st customer of the new Airbus A300 placing an order for 6 aircraft. Important milestone for the renaissance of the European aviation industry! My first flight on an A300B2 (!) was in 1986 with a Air Inter flight from ORY to TLS.

Just noting again that “saving” money with low-cost carriers like Volotea is expensive: “save” 51.40 euros, pay additional 139.99 euros. Their business model is fooling passengers and so they have managed to oust good carriers from many routes. I'd like to pay more honestly, not like this.

If ever, watch @LeTour on TV today! The race is following the route of the last year's Olympic road race in the cobbles and hills of Montmartre in Paris. The ambience last year on the location was stunning, surely will be today as well (but now I watch TV).

Just casually SpaceX #Transporter14 just launched seven (7) satellites from the Finnish space companies: KuvaSpace’s #Hyperfield1B and 6 SAR satellites from @iceye. Great!
It was slightly different midsummer (important day in Finland) five years ago. Midnight sun & stratospheric flight with Kitsat (followed by extremely nice tour in Lapland and Norway with many COVID restrictions still applied).
