It's very problematic that the Leader of the Council, Cllr Paula Basnett, does not support the butterfly trail in New Ferry’s regeneration. The Labour Chair of the Regeneration Committee confirmed that the money saved by cheaper tarmac in New Ferry ➡️
I’m delighted the City Region is listening to our demands for a publicly owned Merseyrail that works for the benefit of everyone in Merseyside, not just the wealthy shareholders. www.birkenhead.news/merseyrail-t... @greenruth.bsky.social @kieranmurph.bsky.social #merseyside #merseyrail

Butterflies of the Wirral 🦋 Wirral Green and LibDem Councillors voted FOR the best regeneration work for New Ferry town centre. Labour and Tory Councillors voted AGAINST and to move government grant to other areas. #justicefornewferry
From today, thousands of households in Wirral can start recycling food waste. ♻️ It was good to see some of the 75 bin wagons at Biffa’s depot in Bromborough Pool, where over 270 workers are based. These food recycling wagons run on low carbon hydrogenated vegetable oil, not high pollution diesel.
Greens want a different approach: • Prioritising health and true recovery: Arresting people doesn’t cure addiction but effective treatment does. ⬇️
Only Wirral Green Councillors support more cash for people on low income and in crisis. 💷 Other political parties voted against. Last March, Labour and Tories also voted to increase Council Tax bills by £555 per year for 18,000 low income households on the Wirral.
Green Councillors vote to keep Council Tax support 💷 for 14,000 vulnerable families. Labour, Tory and LibDem Councillors vote to triple Wirral Council Tax bills sent to the poorest people in the smallest homes.

Greens say no more wars for oil and gas 🛢️ It was an honour to talk with Karim on Oxton Road, Birkenhead. Due to the war, he hasn’t been able to speak with his parents in Iran for more than a month. greenparty.org.uk/2026/03/20/g...
Merseyrail on track for return 🚉 Green Party calls to bring Merseyrail back into public ownership are paying off. The current rip-off arrangement means that up to £1.50 for every passenger journey is paid out in dividends to shareholders.
Zack Polanski in an interview with Nick Robinson "[... ] I think for lots of Jewish people Zionism means a lot of different things. And of course for the non Jewish community too, but let's talk about the Jewish community."
Friends, lets hear it for the organisers of this important protest to restore our NHS. I’m one of over 850 Green councillors and growing. We know that things like good housing, good food, clean air and the real living wage are all contributing factors to healthy outcomes
Wirral's libraries committee was privileged to hear David speak about the message that closing Wirral Council's library would mean to his community.
Threats against Council workers are not OK What is fantastic about England is that we welcome diversity. Flying the flag for a sporting event is fine. Flying the flag to intimidate - not so much.
Return Our Merseyrail Jo Bird:”Last year, Merseyrail recorded 28.3 million passenger journeys. In the same year, it paid out £44 million in shareholder profits. That’s money that could and should have been used to improve train services, accessibility and reduce fares.
Seven years ago today, I was first elected as a local Wirral Councillor. After the Labour Party expelled me retrospectively, the good people of Bromborough, Port Sunlight and New Ferry re-elected me as their Green Cllr in 2023, with even more votes.
We’re here outside the Kings Gap Hotel in Hoylake to counter some of the hatred that we can see on our streets.
Benny, Cheryl, Lenny and me enjoyed the Dog Show and other delights of New Ferry Festival today
I'm backing Mothin for Deputy Leader of the Green Party. Cllr @mothinali.bsky.social won local election with 3,070 votes and 52% vote share. He wins hearts, minds and votes across all kinds of communities.
On winning more Green MPs @zackpolanski.bsky.social said, “I’ve toured the country. I’ve seen the amazing work you’re doing… Like Jo Bird in Birkenhead. She got an amazing second place. But you know what? It’s going to be much more amazing when she gets first place next time.”
Recycle for our one beautiful planet We all live on one beautiful planet. We need to recycle 100% where we can, because we have limited resources. Its easy with the three Rs: Reduce, Re-use, Recycle.
Lift up healthy life expectancy for everyone Annabel: Is that [Labour's plan] going to help sort of support preventative health care? Jo Bird: I hope so. Greens welcome this emphasis on prevention and health inequalities, new from Labour.
