@gateau.bsky.social This weekend’s cleanup jobs. Of the stones, I do suspect the flower mandala to be glass, but that blue dangle fluoresces just enough to make me think possible topaz. The purse took SO much cleaning, and there’s still a little more to do. But not a dent in sight!

5 sterling pendants. Clockwise from upper left, a simple mount with a black stone (onyx or obsidian?). A teardrop shaped mottled green and black serpentinite. A fancy teardrop with lots of small clear stones surrounding a blue stone dangle (possibly topaz). Flower mandala shape with many colored clear stones, probably glass. And a very cool oval of blue & white floral porcelain in an interesting angled silver mount.

@gateau.bsky.social My “I’ll know it when I see it” find. Moonstone and marcasite. Absolutely NOTHING like anything I’ve ever looked for, ever thought I’d wear. But when I came across it, could not stop going back to it!

I‘ve mostly stopped bottom feeding ebay auctions, but this one came in the mail today and I’m very pleased. Baltic amber in sterling settings, after first round of cleaning. Polishing the silver on the earrings is proving challenging, the cloth doesn’t fit well in all those crevices!

Coppery rust colored Baltic Amber oval cabochons set in vintage sterling silver earrings and matching pendant. All three pieces have a silver leaf shape to one side of the stone, and the earrings have a silver leaf on the ear wire above the dangle. The earrings still show more dull grey tarnish than the pendant after about an hour with a polishing cloth, they were really badly tarnished to start with.

Newest favorite rock is a piece of turritella agate with one polished side. Fossils inside are Elimia tenera, a freshwater snail. It was in a shop with a lot of more expensive specimens, but this small chunk kept drawing me back. It’s even more fascinating under a magnifying glass!

Um…no judgment here… 🤣 Left is Wedgwood & clips onto your lipstick, right is old enough that it has its own refillable(?)tube, which…no, I haven’t used.

The same two vintage lipstick holders, now opened to show their mirrors. The left one clicks onto a plastic lipstick tube case; the right one comes apart to reveal a refillable brass casing (currently propping up the mirror) that you apparently stuff a stick of lipstick into? Sounds messy.

These two were a thrift find, at around $20 each. Both are marked; they were nearly black with tarnish when I bought them, but obviously they cleaned up pretty well. Purple appears to be charoite, blue is a little odd in that it’s dyed golden rutile quartz. At the price, I couldn’t resist!

Oh my galaxies… @peculiarityshop.bsky.social Impossible to catch the colors or fire of these aurora opals in just one pic, so here are four. @beckymew.bsky.social was right, no need to worry about the pendant matching! PURE JOY!!! The whistle was honestly a bright spot too on a crappy morning. 💕
