Not from there, but Leitrim is lovely. All that water and John McGahern…
We are by the seaside for a week. Exotic Herne Bay. Near here is @annri.bsky.social and her son’s happy place ! We are eating delicious Turkish food and enjoying the motor bikes. Many of their owners well-stricken in years.
It’s a lovely sculpture, and the Eternal Heart response by the Choctaw Nation is too.
I thought of him immediately when I was rereading The Library at the Edge of the World.
@janjonesauthor.bsky.social I’ve just finished this and much enjoyed it.
The laundry is the worst part of the return home. I love this picture of man and dog hanging out the washing, but I’m ashamed to say I don’t know who painted it.
Hoping the fags help with the patience..The hanging about in hospitals when you’re all geared up and ready is a trial.
Nice! I think the ‘don’t count your boobies until they’re hatched’ is the only Thurber story I know.
Had a happy get-together in pub garden w family for Himself’s birthday. Son turned daughter’s photo of us all into a picture of Muppets!
I have just finished listening to The Light Between Oceans by ML Stedman. Beautifully written; well-developed plot; excellent characterisation. All in a minor key and unremittingly sad. It has left me heartrent! So I am turning to 2 more seaside books from our own Bluesky authors to cheer me up.
Adorable little fella our daughter and son-in-law adopted, is staying for a bit to ‘mind’ us old ones while I get over hip replacement op.
If nominative determinism and Sliding Doors had an offspring, and it was referred to as ‘an abused woman’s choices’,this gripping book would be it.
We called our dog Sweeney because, em..he was a stray. PS @gregorynorminton.bsky.social and @zaraslattery.bsky.social are doing a graphic version.
@bookwormsat.bsky.social Aoife was tempted to drown the Children of Lir, she decided that she didn’t want to risk being haunted by them, so she decided that she would cast a spell that would force them to live as swans for nine hundred years. As told by Keith O’Hara 🖼️ sculpture by Oisín Kelly
On our way to St Thomas’s for regular check up for himself. Got coffees from this superb coffee cabin.
