Time passes, listen, time passes. Here for music, synths, film, TV, astronomy, motorcycle and book chat #MDANT Guitarist in a past life Left wing. Aneurin Bevan was right ✊ @ KevinAdams in “the other place”
1940s aircraft looping around the town today, Dakota in the middle of a mostly blue sky on Bluesky. Followed by a distant single engined aircraft too far away to identify. I guess it’s all happening down at the Severn Valley Railway today 😊
That IMAX camera rig is some setup isn’t it? No “can we do a quick handheld shot” with that 😄
Late to this - as per usual - but what an incredible film. The ratcheting up of tension again and again. No spoilers but the climax is almost an anticlimax after such a build up. In my head Dorothy Vallens life has taken a turn to become Sister Agnes - played perfectly by Isabella Rossellini 👌
Saw a beautiful sight last night. An enormous slug was on our kitchen step (that's not the beautiful bit) and suddenly one of my fave little oval shadows crept lowdown past the step. Stopped, little nose sniffing the air and then pawed down the slug for a late night feast 🖤 *not that hog
Perfect summary of her character here from Isabella Rossellini, and what an incredible film 🖤 There’s a kind of optimism to the 90s interviews that I feel was lost later on. Understandably. Why do we often revere great work long after it’s released?
Our cinema in Bridgnorth with art deco plasterwork details. Built in 1937 and due to be knocked down in the next few years. I understand that a lot of the interior will be saved for a new build two screen cinema🤞 And the film wasn’t so bad either, The Odyssey.
Kind of sad to not have the Commonwealth Games on my TV this time around but fuck Larry Ellison and MAGA And fuck everyone on the Commonwealth games media team who thought this was a good idea 👇
Just read someone saying that wind turbines “throw out asbestos” and I have no answer other than this… 😳 p.s. I Googled, as you do and it seems that YES traces of asbestos have been found INSIDE some brake housings. INSIDE CAROL
If you like that cover it gets better still inside, great mini Daily Mail work from @spellingmistakescostlives.com 👌
I love York, hard to believe almost three years flew by since we dropped off the youngest. Back from graduation weekend ❤️ Final photo had the whole family wondering what I was up to but you know “we’re living in a dream…” #brutalist #york
I got to choose tonight’s watch. Absolutely cannot do this any justice from a quick photo of the screen but the cinematography- and pretty much everything else - of The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner is incredible. From the Walter Lassally video essay.
“I can tell you what Twin Peaks was about”, said Lynch in 2018. “It’s about eighteen hours long.”
Massively prefer Keane, Wright and (usually) Neville at halftime on ITV but the amount of ads drive me nuts. BBC next Wednesday. That said whoever it is Wonderwall is my cue to turn it off 😄
Outside of The Prisoner, The Wire and The Sopranos I’m not sure anything comes close? Still watching but glad to no longer be relying on those old VHS tapes (thanks Ch4 and which I kept *just in case* of course.)
This beautiful lily flowered in my parents neglected pond. It’s so full of tadpoles I never know when to clear it properly.
Another bee on the clover. Our lawn was covered in bees just a few years ago. Despite it getting cut patches of clover are left and it makes a comeback really fast too.
Bee sucking up nectar from self-heal. Possibly a bit self conscious and interrupted by some idiot with a phone camera 😄
Clover and Self-heal covered our lawn yesterday after days when it was too hot to cut the grass - me, I’d have left it. A large patch has been left though. Bee clips to follow but sadly there are a fraction of what there were just a few years ago.
What a beaut, earmarked for the occasional clear out - again - but I’m hiding it in a minute to put it on the wall. Unplayable luckily enough, no one needs to hear a plinky Ace of Spades or Sweet Child of Mine *apparently* 🤘😆🤣
Ironbridge, the birthplace of the Industrial Revolution. Taken this sunny Friday morning and remarkably unspoiled. Across the river from the town it’s mostly trees in either direction. Beautiful ❤️
Originally from 2012 but an excellent read on Arthur Seaton of Saturday Night and Sunday Morning and the demise of British - specifically Nottingham - pub culture sillitoetrail.com/arthur-centu...
Missed the festival but I have @hanleypa.bsky.social’s book and a fanzine to kind of make up. Seen no end of great photos already and should go trawl YouTube straight after diving into both of these. Got to love @routebooks.bsky.social
Football fact: If Infantino borrowed Trump’s fake tan he’d look like a baked bean in a suit
Do I have any regrets buying this graphic novel/comic/illustrated TRUE stories of Lemmy Kilmister and Motörhead… see title
I love sitting out back and hearing this beautiful song. Blessed to have quiet warm evenings once the machines stop and the skies begin to darken 🖤
I’m not a sticker kind of person as a rule but another one of these fell out of the bag of my latest t shirt from @sirpaintalot.bsky.social Has to get stuck up somewhere, it’d be a terrible waste otherwise
Superb night 👌 Didn’t want to get the phone out much but had to grab 3 or 4 keepsakes 🖤
