Yes UK highway code strengthened pedestrian priority in 2022. AFAIK the campaign to educate was small. I doubt a bigger campaign alone could have improved compliance very significantly. Side road zebras should have been permitted in '22 (rather than '27) so infrastructure could reinforce the rules.

A bloody nose for Sir Kier From today's Westminster Extra: The Conservatives have just been elected to run Westminster Council with the lowest vote share of any party to do it. They have nearly 60% of the councillors with 35% of the vote. And they are promising cuts to council services. 1/

Thank you Bayswater residents for voting. I heard a lot of anger on the doorstep toward Labour nationally, with many of our previous supporters voting Green. I was not re-elected and Westminster Council is now Conservative. I'm sorry we won't be able to continue, but incredibly proud of our record.
Meanwhile, the Conservative candidates for this key Council battleground appear unaware that it was their own party that added cycle lanes to Sussex Gardens in 2018. (After the labor administration was elected to Westminster Council in 2022, we installed wands.) 2/
Two reasons to be cheerful: Children (and parents) enjoying their Play Street on Northumberland Place, someone riding their son home using a new kerbed cycle lane on Westbourne Terrace. I've worked hard on both of these and it's a joy to see them come to fruition.

Carspreading as highlighted by @cleancitiescampaign.org is a massive problem in London and I'm glad we and the Mayor are on the same page about encouraging the use of smaller less dangerous vehicles.
This is massive. Equivalent to more than 55 new/improved crossings in every ward.
