Whenever I go to my son's house there is usually at least one Pacific Northwest tree frog that catches me by surprise. Here I was intently picking raspberries and looked towards the side and saw this one just hanging out. All the more reason to keep a cellphone in my pocket. #frogs #amphibians 🐸❤️

My sweet little man Toby aka #TobyJapaneseBobtailOfBluesky has passed over the rainbow bridge. I miss him terribly, but know he's on the other side getting into mischief with his best buddy Petey. 😢

I was picking my car up from Gerber on Hwy 99 in Lynnwood, Wa. and saw this bird and nest at the top of a nearby cellphone tower. Luckily my cellphone has a somewhat decent zoom. I think it's an Osprey, what do you all think? If it is it's a lifer for me. #birds

I believe this might be an Osprey standing on top of part of a cellphone tower. It's large nest is below it.

I was helping my son in his garden yesterday and felt like something was watching me. Turning I saw this Pacific tree frog looking at me from it's perch in a smoke tree. This is why I always keep my phone in my pocket. 🐸❤️ #frogs

A Pacific tree frog perched on a branch looking right at me. It was doing it's best to blend in to the brownish color of the branch, but you could still see some faint green. I find it very interesting that they have the ability to go from vibrant spring green to almost grey/brown. They are masters at camouflage.

Years ago I made a bread dung beetle as part of one of the items for GISH (Greatest International Scavenger Hunt). My entry even made the coffee table book that year. People on the judging committee must have appreciated dung beetles too.😃

A dung beetle fashioned out of molasses bread, fashioning the legs and attaching them was no mean feat.
The dung ball was made of sourdough bread, much easier to make and bake.
I miss doing GISH. My team had a blast doing all the item challenges.

Walking towards my front door on Sunday I heard a "different" bird call so I stopped and looked towards the side of my house and saw what I think is a juvenile Cooper's hawk perched drying itself on my fence gate. A big rain squall had just passed and it looked very wet. #birds🪶

I had to back up as I was going into my kitchen so I wouldn't scare this Pileated woodpecker off the suet feeder this morning. They were absent for a good portion of the summer and just showed up again two weeks ago in the Douglas firs in my back garden. They are magnificent birds! #birds 🪶

A female Pileated woodpecker perched on a suet feeder. This suet feeder has a long tail prop at the bottom which makes it easier for large woodpeckers to hold on to the feeder.

Pileated woodpeckers are huge. This shows how big it is compared to two suet blocks.

My son's back garden (which is wildlife friendly) abuts a greenbelt. Whenever I'm up helping him I'm always excited to see Northwestern garter snakes and Pacific tree frogs.He always jokes that I'm the only mom he knows that comes running to see a snake See alt text for more info. #snakes #frogs 🐍🐸

A Northwestern garter snake is cruising along through the back meadow area of my son's back garden. It is a shiny black with thin yellow to orangish stripes.

The garter snake moved through the meadow and traveled along the edge of a raised garden. It is approximately 2 feet long, a beautiful well fed specimen.

I kept hearing this Pacific tree frog and as I was picking up windfall apples it startled me as it hopped onto a camellia
leaf. I don't often get photos of them where you can see the slight blue above their eyes and tail end.

We went to a dahlia show today put on by the #SeattleDahliaSociety and #PugetSoundDahliaAssociation at #SkyNursery. It will be running tomorrow (Sunday) too. Not only will you see every type of Dahlia you will also see some stunning dahlia floral arrangements. #Dahlias 🌱

I'd never seen a tulip form before. It really has a beautiful tulip shape.
This one is called Sandia (tulip).

Such a beautiful defying gravity arrangement. A white suspended pitcher looks like it is pouring cedar branchlettes and reddish/burgundy dahlias.

A ticket a basket so many different types and colors of dahlias in baskets.

This is a table full of dahlias as big as your head!

One of the pluses of helping my son in his garden is being able to pick and take home fruit. These are 'Pink Lemonade' blueberries. I had already picked a bowl full and then had to stop as a Bald-faced hornet (second photo) took umbrage at my presence. 🌱🐝
