@themerl.bsky.social, I thought you might like to know; we travelled to Burgos to see the eclipse and there appears to be a mighty hög who lives nearby and goes for a little promenade every evening and morning. I hope he had some eclipse glasses for last night!
Incredible experience. Totality and then a partial #eclipse sunset from just outside #Burgos, northern #Spain. Spectacular! #IberianEclipse #Eclipse2026
Well I was rotting for France, but I must admit the party's gonna be good here now... #VamosEspaña!
The best thing about living in a hot country? Ice cream at midnight coming home from a gig 😀 #Granada #ThePainsOfBeingPureAtHeart #PlamtaBaja
The rest of the day I am attending the @iaacsic.bsky.social's Severo Ochoa day celebrating all the projects sponsored by this programme (which includes the #JAEIntro students!). First talk in this block is @theakozakis.bsky.social talking about exoplanet chemistry and ozone
🎵 It's student presentation time 🎵 #JAE-Intro day at @iaacsic.bsky.social. Students are presenting the work they've been doing in their JAE internship and PhD projects. My student, Alba, is presenting her project on the analysis of historic #comet ☄️ non-gravitational forces and orbits
Also had a nice time visiting #Alicante city and nearby beaches over the weekend 😀
Seminar delivered @ua.es. Of course I had to wear this t shirt today... #Maythe4th #StarWars. And I even got to have a full English breakfast before, courtesy of Alicante being quick the destination for UK tourist 😅
This is great! And I have to say, I am very happy with mine... a line of #lava 🌋 aaand a crater ☄️! Awesome science.nasa.gov/mission/land...
Filing my expenses claim for this trip and I might just keep one of these, it looks so fancy! @esa.int ☺️
Phewph, full-on morning @cometinterceptor.bsky.social SWT giving a talk on our trajectory analysis on incoming comets and then updates from the recent #Rosetta #DustWorkshop in Graz! Plus a little advertisement for #Granada next year! (pics from yesterday and last night's sunset from the beach 😀⛱️)
Day two of Comet Interceptor SWT. Searched for @esa.int 's space cat, but no luck so far !
Lovely walk along the beach and across the dunes to ESTEC @esa.int, for the first day of the @cometinterceptor.bsky.social science working team meeting ☄️🛰️. Excited to be finally visiting ESA so I've got my cap on! 🧢
Excellent day @ TU Delft giving a seminar on #comets, catching up with Pieter and Maxime, discussing his Masters thesis, and touring the impressive labs. You can tell it's an aerospace department when there's a plane hanging from the roof, rockets in the lab, and they have their own simulator!
Good flight over last night with views of the #SierraNevada again, though a lot less snow this time! Now I'm on the train to Delft to give a seminar this morning on comet physical properties from their dynamics. Changing... anywhere (not Liverpool or Rome)
Tavelling to the Netherlands tonight 🇳🇱 Tomorrow I will give a seminar @ TU Delft, and catch up with my old project student, Pieter. Then I'm off to ESTEC for a @cometinterceptor.bsky.social meeting. Looking forward to visiting @esa.int for the first time! 😀 bsky.app/profile/nick...
For some reason the remote for the TV/screen in the meeting room opposite my office is kept at the front desk. Sometimes it randomly turns on very loud and I have to walk all the way there to turn it off. Today it's muted but playing this... Actually very calming 😅
Took a walk up the hill (to a friend's house to feed their cat while they're away 😸) and now having an evening stroll along the river... Always good to appreciate the city you live in! #Granada
Well I think that went well! Presented at the #Rosetta #DustWorkshop, hosted a thermal modelling spinoff meeting, and even persuaded everyone to select #Granada for the next meeting! So I will be running a #PlanetaryScience workshop this time next year. (Assuming I am still employed!)
Final day of the #Rosetta #DustWorkshop. Very nice social dinner (and drinks) last night, but today is going to be a struggle! I will be presenting my #67P thermal modelling results just before lunch, and then leading a spinoff discussion this afternoon - hopefully I can stay awake! #PlanetSci
More pics from day one of the #DustWorkshop. In which I learned of the existence of Hydrodium, saw the lab, acquired a new mini #comet #67P, and am now back in the hotel watching #Arsenal 🙂
