I'm currently about ~70% through The Bureau, and honestly, it's not the worst game I've ever seen, I've had no reason to stop playing it, but it's absolutely in the 7/10 range as you can get, which sucks because there's an awesome world and ideas here, just something about it didn't fully click

Continuing the journey of subscription delete, I've learned that Disney+ has no option to actually stop paying them, unless you delete your entire account with them, which tbh, isn't a loss for me, but it's kinda wild.

The Doohickey for context

In the continuing move to remove my subscriptions and give more power to The Doohickey, I remembered a place @caseyexplosion.bsky.social mentioned a while back in a thread and popped in to find 3 albums I love and haven't listened to for ages, so thanks again for recommending The Sound Cellar

I decided to ditch anything with a subscription this year, and picked up an actual media player instead for Christmas, and in the two weeks I've been using it, I've not opened Spotify once. Friends have taken to calling it "The Doohickey"

Week 23 - Rich Brian - 1999 Rich Brian is an artist I've followed since he debuted, Dat Stick was a banger that proved that anyone with the right drive could break into an genre of their choosing. I fell off a little though, so I decided to see what I might have missed in the last while (🧵)

Week 22 - Björk - Post I did Debut at the beginning of this project as an example of outsider pop that influences all over, and Post is a good example of continuing that in the best way, by staying experimental and trying different things other than Swedish songwriting. Björk nailed it as always (🧵)

Week 21 - New Found Glory - Sticks & Stones New Found Glory speak from a time I remember as a blur of early to late teens featuring a lot of black clothing, skateboards, and OMGSORANDOM humour. That said, the right song comes on and the nostalgia hits like a wave, so I figured it's time to dive. (🧵)

Week 20 - Daft Punk - Human After All I like Daft Punk a lot, which is nice, but I've only listened to like, two albums by them in their entirety, so I decided to try the album I know the least and has the general lowest reputation as a project from them. If this was the low bar, I'm quite happy (🧵)

Week 19 - Wolvhammer - The Monuments of Ash & Bone I've had this album sitting in my collection for a while without listening to it. It came into my ownership with a few other additions from Blood Music I got given in return for some work for one of their distributors. This one is strange. (🧵)

Week 18 - Death Grips - Government Plates It was time to saddle up with another DG album, and the next one was interesting. Government Plates feels completely different to the two albums before, sounding more like a refined electronic project with the same frenetic energy that other two had (🧵)

Week 17 - Bad Religion - No Control The last few albums have been 1+ hour long commitments, and this week I wanted something shorter that wasn't an EP. Trust the Tony Hawk soundtracks to save the day. This one is kind of the defining sound for Bad Religion, and I only ever knew Big Bang. (🧵)

Week 16 - Digitalism - Idealism Continuing the trend of Albums I've owned but never fully listened to, it's Digitalism's debut album. I bought this album as a rare find in one of the best secondhand shops in Waterford thats no longer with us off knowing the band from the song Blitz in SSX 2012. (🧵)

Week 15 - The Sword - Warp Riders I've known about The Sword from my Guitar Hero days, but had never really looked past Freya to see what they were like. I saw a chance when they appeared on the list for RSD25, I figured the album would be worth checking out. (🧵)

Week 14 - Hall & Oates - Big Bam Boom The 80s was a long time ago, and this review might be Out of Touch so to speak. But with recent trends I've seen, there's no denying the nostalgia people have for them, so I figured why not, if they had one big hit on this album, they had to have a few more (🧵)

Week 13 - Alice in Chains - Dirt I had a lot on this week and needed something that could fit into a car journey home, lo and behold, Them Bones came on shuffle as I was pulling into a service station on the long drive and my decision was made for me. Time to finally listen to the full thing. (🧵)

Week 12 - MPB-4 - Amigo é Pra Essas Coisas Another friend's recommendation, and this one is entirely unique to me. I had never heard of the MPB genre, nevermind the band that helped popularise it in their home country. And what I also wasn't ready for was how sonically diverse it is. (🧵)
