Honestly, I was severely tempted to keep this part of the prize for myself, because LOOK AT IT, OMG. 😍 @measuredandslow.bsky.social is INCREDIBLE!

UPDATE #2: one of the magpies heard me talking shit, flew over, and was like "say it to my beak, bitch"

A European magpie perched on the black iron rail of my balcony, which are strung with amber holiday lights still, even though it's April. The bird is looking off the right and is black and white with teal blue accents. It looks satisfied that it has cowed me sufficiently.

Against a lake background is a leafless tree with gnarled, thin branches. At the top of the tree is what appears to be a random huge pile of sticks in no discernable order. And hovering approximately 6-12 inches above *that* is a single new horizontal stick that serves no discernable purpose.

P.P.S. At the previous game, there was a *different* new ginormous banner, which translated to "Let the compass show the way home" and was--as Little D pointed out--bizarrely poetic. Especially given that the next banner was going to feature a smoking cartoon character. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I went to a playoff game for a local (Swedish) hockey team, and fans unveiled a huge new banner that's the most European shit I've ever seen and also appears to have teleported to the rink directly from the 1970s

Here are a couple pics of my "Birth of Venus" diamond painting, which may help to explain things better:

I should note that Albert Joseph Pénot is most famous for his absolutely iconic bat-woman painting, "La Femme Chauve-Souris" (~1890), which I also hope to diamond-paint at some point, because WOW.

So now I can concentrate more fully on my latest project, the diamond-painting version of "Départ pour le Sabbat" (1910) by Albert Joseph Pénot:

To me, the most incredible aspect of this painting (Carl Bloch's "In a Roman Osteria," 1866) is how viscerally Bloch evokes the squirming discomfort of social rejection by people who are much cooler than you (and, in one case, probably gossiping about you despite the seeming napkin on her head?).
