UPDATE #2: one of the magpies heard me talking shit, flew over, and was like "say it to my beak, bitch"
UPDATE: The magpies have made one visible change to last year's nest so far, and.......again, maybe avian homebuilding isn't one of their core strengths
P.P.S. At the previous game, there was a *different* new ginormous banner, which translated to "Let the compass show the way home" and was--as Little D pointed out--bizarrely poetic. Especially given that the next banner was going to feature a smoking cartoon character. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I went to a playoff game for a local (Swedish) hockey team, and fans unveiled a huge new banner that's the most European shit I've ever seen and also appears to have teleported to the rink directly from the 1970s
The announcement I promised: I have a short story out this September! "A Solstice Kiss" is about new beginnings, impulsive kisses, the rebirth of the sun on the darkest day of year, Christmas in Stockholm, and...um, Surrealist art? I am who I am. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ www.simonandschuster.com/books/The-Tw...
I'm so excited that TINY HOUSE, BIG LOVE--the second novella in my Love Unscripted series--has a gorgeous new cover by @lenikauffman.bsky.social and an upcoming audiobook (out March 24th) narrated by the fabulous Joy Nash. 🥰 Here's where to find the audiobook! rbmediaglobal.com/audiobook/97...
Okay, one more announcement for today (there will be two more tomorrow)! There's a Goodreads giveaway happening for WORLD'S OKAYEST ORACLE (RELUCTANTLY) SEEKS DEMON until 4/10! If you enter, you can win a galley copy of my next book. :-) www.goodreads.com/giveaway/sho...
Soooo......I have a little (and I do mean little) winter-holiday-themed side project to announce tomorrow! I'm excited about it, and I hope you will be too. :-)
One of my self-published novellas, DESIRE AND THE DEEP BLUE SEA, has a gorgeous new cover from @lenikauffman.bsky.social and a new audiobook narrated by the incomparable Joy Nash--and that audiobook is out today! rbmediaglobal.com/audiobook/97... I hope you love the cover and the story! ♥

SECOND CHANCE ROMANCE is warm, cozy, & out today. I hope you love it! 💗 The story: A cranky baker's erroneous obituary brings the woman who got away back into his life--& now he needs to convince her to stay. The heat level: steamy! The baked goods: plentiful! www.harpercollins.com/products/sec...
Speaking of warm things...I don't suppose that 1) you would ever consider making something like this for sale or 2) I could afford it if you did?
Look, I was told I should have a hobby, & now I have 6: 1) diamond painting 2) browsing diamond paintings 3) buying diamond paintings 4) organizing diamond paintings 5) trying & failing to make room for all my diamond paintings 6) snickering at YouTube comments by ppl unaware of DP's alternate usage
Maybe you'd like to see the amazing cover for WORLD'S OKAYEST ORACLE (RELUCTANTLY) SEEKS DEMON, my book about an infamously underpowered oracle saving the world alongside the uptight demon who helped ruin her life 20 years ago? AMZ: go.oliviadade.com/WOOamz Other links: go.oliviadade.com/WOOprh
When I say we've worked on a lot of covers together, I mean we've worked on A LOT of covers together! (And there are three more in progress, FYI.)
If you love @lenikauffman.bsky.social's work as much as I do or have ever been curious about our partnership--we've worked on so many projects together, and she's slayed every single cover--please join us this Saturday at 2 p.m. ET on Instagram via @avonbooks!
Here are a couple pics of my "Birth of Venus" diamond painting, which may help to explain things better:
I should note that Albert Joseph Pénot is most famous for his absolutely iconic bat-woman painting, "La Femme Chauve-Souris" (~1890), which I also hope to diamond-paint at some point, because WOW.
In recent weeks, I've been either working on edits for WORLD'S OKAYEST ORACLE (RELUCTANTLY) SEEKS DEMON or diamond painting--and I just turned in my edits! So now I can concentrate more fully on my latest project, the diamond-painting version of "Départ pour le Sabbat" (1910) by Albert Joseph Pénot:
🎇 PREORDER BONUS ALERT! 🎇 If you order SECOND CHANCE ROMANCE from @lovessweetarrow.bsky.social by 11/15, you'll receive a dust jacket inspired by old-school romances, with gorgeous new artwork by @lenikauffman.bsky.social and lots more '80s-inspired fun! shop.lovessweetarrow.com/product/seco...
To me, the most incredible aspect of this painting (Carl Bloch's "In a Roman Osteria," 1866) is how viscerally Bloch evokes the squirming discomfort of social rejection by people who are much cooler than you (and, in one case, probably gossiping about you despite the seeming napkin on her head?).
