Happy eccentric living in Frenchfranceland with Mr P and Toby the Podenco
I would NEVER spoil another Podenco. Why yes, he does have a rolled up fleece for a pillow...
Toby's watching Deep Impact to get hints and tips on surviving an apocalypse...
Woken up at 5am by the smell of burning...no fires near us, but the wind has changed direction and is blowing the smoke from the huge wildfires in the Gironde towards us. As the crow flies, it's 101 miles (162km) away. The lights from the château show the smoke in the valley 😢
We've got real clouds, and thunder!!! It's still 37⁰, not sure we'll get any rain though...
Late evening walkies - the deer wasn't bothered by us and walked off as we got closer. Toby equally uninterested!
The silk tree is out, heavy with scent and the loud hum of bees and insects. In the background, 3 young golden orioles in the trees. And just after turning off the video, an adolescent male flew out 😅
Suffice to say, I think Toby is unwinding nicely and the bed is no longer ours...
Not just 1 but 2 hares this morning and just up the road from our gate!
The hare was there again this evening!! ( @wulfhelm.bsky.social can we have a new category #ShitHarePhotos ??)
A beautiful 7.30am walk on Midsummer's day. Solstice blessings to you all - particularly auspicious today because a stunning huge hare was in the road as we turned for home (Toby's favourite bit of the walk 😬).
Toby wears a Tractive GPS collar in case he gets out. It also monitors his health, which is quite fun to see - particularly when it picks up where he stretched too far in the night and fell off the bed....🤣🤣
