🇨🇦 🇨🇦🍁❤️ I came across a huge collection of Canadian fiddle music on the Banff and ARC labels last year, it was very tempting but not totally what I'm into, should have probably picked up at least this one by Graham Townsend - "John Diefenbaker Polka" was probably pretty good!
#GardensHour Fledgling Steller's Jay wondering if I have any more peanuts. The birdbath (center right in background) is very popular with the chickadees, bushtits and song sparrows.
#GardensHour I wait patiently for the dahlia tubers to *do something* and are those nasturtiums I started from seed ever going to get buds? Meanwhile the best thing has to be my climbing rose (I think it's called 'Garden Sun') which is putting on a show, I've barely pruned it for two years. 🌱
#GardensHour 🌱Sweet little species tulips I put in a small pot are blooming! Yellow one is 'Honky Tonk' and the kind of pinkish one is 'Danique'. I've given up on regular tulips but these guys I can just throw in the parking strip and they are perfectly happy, year after year.
#TicketStubWednesday #MusicChallenge The Irish Centre in Liverpool used to put on gigs in the 80s; the former Wellington Rooms building is still there at the top of Mt. Pleasant but has been disused since the 90s and is crumbling, alas. Mel-o-tones were pre-Walkingseeds, I think.
@thewaroncars.bsky.social seen at one of the worst intersections in Seattle (Fremont Way/Ave N & 39th) on a useless beg button.
@teatles.bsky.social I saw this exhibit last year but sadly could not find any Teatles; looking through the book just now I spotted one of Ringo from a backstage shot (Xmas Palladium show?). Perhaps there was no tea in the US and they just drank coke in bottles...
1964 Beatles Diary Topps trading card, #5A. I can't find where this (canceled concert in Dublin) was a real thing that happened, shocking that a copywriter would make stuff up. Or maybe I'm mistaken? @beatlespod.bsky.social #Beatles
#GardensHour #SixWeeksofColour I'm growing Zinnia Raspberry Limeade this year, picked this one early as I could not resist! 🌱
2/2 an LP of her live recordings from the Buck Owens show, backed up by the Buckaroos, which is fantastic.
Thank you for sending me down the rabbit-hole of Euro and Aussie K-Tel releases, I didn't realize there were so many! 2/2
Weird plant of the day: Fuchsia procumbens, native to New Zealand and super cute! The flowers are tiny, and the first one is just opening. I doubt its hardiness (NZ plants are always hit or miss for me) but couldn't resist. 🌱
The Phacelia 'Bee's Friend' I direct sowed in early spring from seed scavenged at a local seed exchange is blooming! Super easy to grow. 🌱 #FlowersOnFriday
Lychnis 'Orange Gnome' is blooming, same genus as Rose Campion but different flower and foliage color! I like how the edges of the petals look ragged. I'll move it eventually to my parking strip bed because it will probably be happier in the ground.🌱 #FlowerReport
The first time in years the aphids haven't overtaken my honeysuckle before it blooms (did the thick layer of mulch help?). I have been busy cutting off new growth where I'm seeing aphid activity but it might eventually be futile. Enjoying it while I can! 🌱 #FlowerFriday
The Rockets were streamlined diesel trains run by the Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific Railroad; the Rocky Mountain Rocket ran to Chicago with a spur from Colorado Springs from 1939 to 1966. 2/3
Beginning in 1949, the original route was Oakland to Chicago and you could begin in San Francisco by ferry, but it was never a Union Pacific Train (that would be the competing City of San Francisco) and didn't serve Los Angeles. The song is almost the same tune as "Wabash Cannonball" by Roy Acuff.
#ArtistFave15 #MusicChallenge Day 12/15 Scott Walker - Lost In The Stars from Scott Walker Sings Songs From His TV Series (1969) Scott channels his inner Jack Jones. My favorite Scott album jacket.
#GardensHour April means that the violas and various other cool weather loving annuals are looking good right now, and the sun and light is finally returning to the north side of my house! 🌱 (I gave up a long time ago trying to coordinate colors)
I have daffodils in pots on the cold side of the house so they're always late to open. Looking good now though! 🌱 #SundayYellow
@nathenry.com There's a couple of mature cherry trees (Yoshino?) at 62nd and Aurora on the median right by the highway that aren't on the map. They are amazing! (pics from last year)
This was released in Germany as a 7" single with a picture sleeve!
