I did not actually think this was a thing (not the X spat, because that's like a Tuesday). And then I went to the Ryanair site in Ireland and, lo and behold. Michael O'Leary is a terrible human being, but honestly? This is A++ trolling.

I am so sorry. We lost our Joi a few days ago, and the pain is immeasurable. They are so important to us, and they live shockingly short, brief lives and it's just not fair. But I'm glad Heidi and Joi are at peace. (And now I'm going to cry again...)

RIP to Daisy, a Methuselah in cat-form, who was dumped on our doorstep 5 years ago, age 300, hated everything (including us until about a year ago), and genuinely scared all the other cats, despite being old and frail. You put up a good fight, and had a mean purr.

A mostly black cat with white socks and chin stares annoyingly at you. She wants pets, but she also hates everything.

Same cat, doing the tiny bit of cleaning she could. She tried, but we still had to bathe her anyway.

A younger Daisy, forgetting that she hated the world, caught enjoying a sunny day in 2021.

Daisy in a more fuller form, back when she would glare at anyone for daring to exist. Don't let that relaxed look fool you: She would demand pets and then completely lose her shit and maul anything in range.

Not entirely sure this test was meaningful for me. I was pretty much down for eating everything listed, with the exception of defrosted pizza because why? Still it says I'm upper middle class food-wise. I just think I'm an omnivore.

Yet another split image -- two angles of a hallway that leads from the beautiful airy green tile room I mentioned above. The walls are a blood red, with red fernish flower patterns. Also, there's a red chair, and a painting of women who appear to be getting their hair dried at a beauty salon in one of those old style dome blowdry heaters. I mean, I think that's what it is, or maybe they're hats? IDK.

Another one of the many bathrooms (there are 3 full bathrooms and two separate toilets). This bathroom matches the black subway tile and white floor motif of the Tweety room, but the shower is MURDER RED and it screams KILL ROOM. There are bath massage roller things that look like atoms, and way too many mirrors for comfort.

One of the many banisters on the stairs of the house. Each one is accented with precise carvings, like this diamond/flower combo. It's beautiful, and clearly a reminder of what the old building once looked like.

This room is, reasonably sedate. There are some color choices that would be easily fixed. The red rug is actually gorgeous. But inexplicably, the room is well appointed, save for two just .. bare matresses along the wall?

Also there is a very strange stand which has the words 'The End' in stylized font. It's huge and reaches to one of the wall joists in the ceiling.

Periodically I like to view houses in different places, and today I came across this. I have no words. It is both beautiful and deeply, profoundly frightening. I can only describe this as McMansion Hell, Dutch Edition. Thoughts? @mcmansionhell.bsky.social Link: www.funda.nl/en/detail/ko...

So, this place was built in 1909, restored from a former rectory that is apparently famous in the town. The description in Dutch mentions that during the restoration, they kept many of the original features, including the beautiful stained glass and railings. Overall, the room is beautiful and bright, with some bold, but reasonably tasteful turquoise and pink color added in, with black framing. So far, so good.

So, there are at least 3 kitchens in this place. This is the first one, I think its on the ground floor. It's mostly fine, modernized with white doors and a black backsplash. But take a look at the paintings above. A random assortment of oil paintings of faces. There's one in the middle which has nightmare fuel people laughing in the most awkard way possible. A painting of a nude woman is staring at them confused, while a picture of a dour old white man stares off into the middle distance.

I feel you, painting.

I think this is the second floor. Again, I wouldn't go out of my way to lay out a room like this, but I can appreciate the aesthetic choices that were made. Actually, there are many pictures of the green floral tile work, and pictures of the sheer scale of this room, which is a long open floor plan kitchen+dining+living room. I actually adore this room now.

And then there's this -- a split frame showing the ddaesque horror hall that leads to the toilet room (the Dutch love them some separate toilet-only rooms). The wall has ... various art? including paintings I cannot reasonably describe with words. There's a painting of wind up teeth, and a lipstick dispenser in a Chinese to-go box? And some deeply horrifying man on all fours.

As for the bathroom. Imagine all black subway tiles, a black toilet lid, a pull out window and then... a large bust of Tweety Bird just ... hanging out over the toilet for no fucking reason.

Seconded. Rosie here is the smallest of our gang, and by far the most vicious when it comes to bug extermination. She can jump 4-5 feet vertically to catch whatever she sees. She also rides shoulders!

Since the introduction of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in May 2018, the DPC has imposed fines of more than €4 billion on big tech firms.

Just €20 million of that has been paid, as most of the rulings are under appeal.

In May 2023, the DPC imposed a record fine of €1.2bn on Meta for breaches relating to the transfer of personal data from the EU to the US.

Earlier this month, the DPC fined video-sharing platform TikTok €530 million over the transfer of the personal data of European users to China.
