i've never seen the film this is from and don't even know the name. i know that all these photos are from the same film though. it's a bit of an "i've never seen star wars", but i don't even know what a star war is. sometimes i feel really left out

it's a screen shot from a film but that's the point i don't know. in this shot, the guy is sat sort of half smiling, in a dimly lit room. he's wearing a denim jacket and a shirt. his hair is longish, covering his ears, like a ramone on his day off.

i started using a formatter to make my code pretty (and i guess readable), but i guess i need to adjust something because, for eg...

a screenshot of some rust code, it's the same thing but twice - a variable assigned to the return of a function, with an "or else" closure running the same function on a different dir. the first one has the comment "i don't like formatters because they do stuff like this", where the line is broken after the equal sign, and "instead of something like this" where the line is broken evenly, just before the "or else" closure.

i have two rust projects open, 3 files from each. that's me actively trying to stress my memory out. usually i'd use bat to open up a file from a second project, because it would eat all of my memory and a big nibble on my swap. this is amazing. i love this.

results for the swapon show command. it shows 2.2 GB used on zram and zero bytes for my swap partition.

nofi update. i spent so long trying to get the css to work (i don't plan on it looking like that, that's just to test, if it looks awful i've done it right. it is growing on me though). it runs about the same speed as the pyqt version.

an update on that project i'd given up on (i seem to get bursts of OOH I KNOW WHAT TO DO at 6am). i figured out how to print the logo and have the text next to it. it was actually the easiest problem of this entire project.

i am plodding along with my neofetch clone. i managed to sort the padding out, and i made it so user can use their own colour blocks. the default is three spaces " " but in the config you can pass nerd font glyphs or even words.

a screenshot of my neofetch clone in written in rust. it shows some basic information because i've only set up a few modules. those are OS, kernel and DE. also i've set up a color chart. in the first run the 16 colors are displayed in two rows of rectangles, in the second, they are displayed by printing the word "cheese" in the different colours.

happy to report my second rust project is finished and actually quite useful (just as useful as the thing i was already using) (e is a function in my fish config to run nvim $argv if the file passes utf-8 check)

cli readout in a rust project's src folder. the first command is "e ~/wallpaper/4k-keyboard.jpg" which returns an error code 1 with "Can I Vim It: file isn't utf-8. the second command is "e main.rs" which successfully runs with the message "can i vim it: yes you can"

i finished my first rust project! it does the thing, and nobody can take that away from me. oddly enough the thing that hurt most was getting String and &str mixed up pretty much every time i used either. compared with bash for fun. i'll really feel that extra 20ms eh.

command line readout for identical memory widgets. the first in a sensible language for such a use case, bash, and the second is in rust. both print out the exact pango-formatted string which is basically an icon and bar that represents the percentage used for both memory and swap. the bash one takes 29ms to run and the rust one is 5ms.
