Maybe I am an imperfect person who’s in the mood to be outraged tonight. But an insta post by designer Vera Neuman’s heirs, says “Artists deserve credit. Artists deserve ownership. Artists deserve to be paid for their work.” And it’s illustrated by an AI drawing www.instagram.com/p/DatrC7llIgu/
Our senator getting ratioed to hell with constituents replying angrily to his “cherished friendship” with Lindsey Graham . Sheldon has a fat warchest and he’s not up for reelection until 2030 but he’s shown his whole ass a lot during this administration and hopefully he’ll be gone
Sorry, here’s a picture - you can see why I would wonder about things like grubhub deliveries
Saw a story today claiming Mayor Smiley still has a lock on East Side voters. Happily my sign order arrived in the mail a few hours later. I know signs supposedly don’t make that big a difference in elections, but in this case I think they matter. Morales’ store is here store.davidmoralespvd.com
Has @reed.senate.gov seen the projected transit flood mapping? The Gano Street access to 95 will be flooded along with Amtrak. Maybe pay attention to the future instead of to Paolino?
This is what they look like. Again, I bought six in May and now need to rehome their many, many babies
Gardener Outrage: someone has gotta tell this realtor that clipped boxwoods and partiers are in no fucking way a thing you can “attribute to the Olmstead tradition” Clipped boxwoods are to Olmstead as silk tophats are to cowboy gear www.zillow.com/homes/for_sa...
Awwww. Look at this tiny violet I found growing under the hammock! It must have self-seeded from a pot at least ten feet away. No I did not have the heart to weed it out
Adding Ken Klippenstein to my block list because he thinks this is a cute attitude to take about supporting Platner despite endless evidence any adult woman could tell you were signs of raging misogyny and toxic male syndrome
Clipping spent Queen Anne’s Lace blooms before the seeds overwhelm us. I love that because it’s from the carrot family the cut stems are perfuming the evening air with the scent of carrot!
On page 25 of this amazing book detailing the writers and artist who went to Germany at the end of WWII to see if the humanities could cure fascism. Just learned Hemingway sucked in bed so bad Martha Gellhorne never once came in 6 years of marriage. Tracks honestly. Machismo and good sex don’t mix
Happy sixth birthday today to Freddie, who is happy to pose for the camera as long as he is far enough away that no one’s tempted to reach out and pet him
For a mere $2.5 million you can own a former strip club (a concrete building without windows) on one of Providence’s most polluted streets, Allen’s Ave Yep, the Silhouettes building is for sale www.loopnet.com/Listing/249-...
Tried to do a cosplay as a Parisian in 38.8 C heat but American mosquitoes were having a 102 F party, so I only lasted about 30 minutes
For all you average-age-38 blueskyers out there who did not get this mass email from Social Security today, but do still have fairly strong liver function: Drinking game - take a shot every time the President is mentioned (Also, good to know SSN is still on X)
A neighbor said hi as she passed by on her walk. Returning 30 minutes later, she was shocked to see me still out watering the same area. Yeah, 5-10 minutes won’t do it. You have to sprinkle water (or turn on a soaker hose) for 30 minutes minimum and probably longer in dry areas.
Just ran around the house swapping screen windows for storms to prep for the coming heat. It’s nerve wracking because Freddie the cat is illicitly hovering at my elbow, ready to leap out into the wild beyond mid-switch when there’s a brief opening.
A bit worried about our Rhode Island bears in this upcoming heatwave. That’s not the outfit I’d want to be caught outside in
Good news! The invasives control guy for the Woony Greenway told me although he is not an entomologist he has checked with some and found spraying Neem Oil on spotted lantern flies either kills them (a bit slowly but still) and/or disrupts their reproductive cycle, so spray them if you see them!
PVD kids can get a free lunch at a number of city parks in the summer at when school’s out. Many of the kids are accompanied by grandparents who are their daily caregivers. But only under 18s can receive food, so kids slip their grans bites to eat surreptitiously. It’s heartbreaking and solveable
I was this many days old when I learned there’s a gargantuan chamomile variety and it smells as good as the original (At Peace & Plenty Garden in Providence)
Reminder, if you want decorative antique door knobs, RI’s own Looloo Antiques latest auction ends tomorrow 6/20. Many are fairly affordable at under $50, like this ‘Roman emperor’ (I didn’t know emperors were big on mustaches but he looks cheerful) auctions.looloodesign.com/auctions/4-L...
The acorn that squirrels planted in my sidewalk 2 1/2 years ago is finally leafing out with true leaves and I am getting quite excited about it. Perhaps someday when I am long gone, it will be a huge old oak shading the street.
Here’s a map showing how The Sports Bra plans to be a $75 million COLONIZER grabbing local entrepreneurial openings for their one brand. A whole possible healthy sisterhood of cool, quirky local joints squashed flat and ruled by one single board of directors
Also, I take issue with too much franchising, which is what The Sports Bra is soliciting investor money. Their pitch explains they’ve inspired local women’s sports bars to spring up around America. Instead of proudly befriending a sisterhood of local businesses, they wanna crush the competition
Hi everyone! Please meet Sunny. Today a very kind and diplomatic vet explained to me that, no, Sunny is not dying nor is she missing any key nutrients in her (extensive) diet. That all of her loud wailing and following me around looking so terribly frail is theater extraordinaire.
