Violent racism is becoming all too familiar. We’ve written to the Prime Minister expressing our deep concern, calling for an urgent meeting with anti-racist and faith groups to develop a serious anti-racist strategy, one that shows genuine leadership in response to this ugly chapter.

The billionaire-funded ‘Unite the Kingdom’ march this weekend was seething with extreme racism, spouted by its far right organisers. We witnessed calls for remigration, to ‘stop Islam’ and for communities to prepare to ‘fight’ back.

Today, far right leaders will try to spread hatred and fear on our streets. We’re all too familiar with the consequences of that politics, how quickly dehumanising rhetoric escalates into real-world violence.

Joy will *always* triumph over hate. This weekend, over half a million people joined the @togetheralliance.bsky.social march in London for a new chapter - the biggest demo against the far right in history. The crowd was a mix of all ages, faiths, ethnicities and backgrounds.

Scrapping juries won’t fix our broken criminal justice system. Although juries are far from perfect, removing this cornerstone of our legal system places more power in the hands of individual judges, who are more prone to racial bias than a jury of twelve people.

We need to consider all the racist incidents from the past few days together. These events are not isolated. As racist violence and rhetoric is increasingly normalised, these are the devastating consequences which people of colour are having to face without adequate protection.
