I've been wondering why oil isn't that high. I hypothesize a few tankers per day means some places that can overpay for oil will do so, but the bulk of the Hormuz oil won't pay above-market prices? Is anyone tracking the price of Hormuz oil specifically?
Also causes vigilante justice when faith in the system falls apart. Like we joke about it sometimes but this was an example of a fucked up system. And vigilantes don't always find the correct murderer.

This. Is it "falling into a trap" when nobody actually sets a trap and it's just a known tar pit everybody keeps their distance from, until a President is like "Nobody tells me what to do" and they deliberately run into it and get stuck? New York Times:
@ironspike.bsky.social only thing worse I've experienced is "I fixed it ... and I don't *know* how." Like, I wrote this code and these tests shouldn't be passing and now I'm starting to question my own sanity!
This could be the return of stagflation. Remember: in the 1970's, inflation was kicked off by oil shocks. Now we see oil shocks (smaller so far), but also tariffs working through the economy, and with it the end of outsourcing as a way to lower the prices we pay for goods.
We were the UCI-14 value in this graph. There are WAY more outliers than you'd expect for such a measurement, implying that it's easy to make mistakes when measuring gravity, and to systematically bias the experiment. Our experiment looks like it may have avoided those mistakes.
At Delaney Hall today there was this guy in tactical gear preaching at the protesters and we were all trying to figure out if he was an ICE agent or just someone who likes to dress as an ICE agent and preach at people who are not fans of ICE.

My wife got this magnet for our fridge and got a surprising amount of chiding from people (men & women) about how bigotry is always bad. Not one had considered that institutional sexism was a thing or that it would matter that boys never had to dodge rocks for being boys.
