The only segs I’ve heard of are the metal plates used to stop the leather heals and soles of shoes wearing out. Could it be a dialect phrase for a callous, perhaps? Patch of hard skin acting as protection in a similar way?

Interesting. Asda trolleys breed on land but Tesco trolleys, like these seen in Edgbaston Res, breed in water. I suppose that’s why you don’t see hybrid trolleys 🤔

Came a cross this nice looking clump high up in a Poplar sp in Sandwell Valley this afternoon. Excuse the poor photos, taken on my phone at full zoom.
This Sorbus in Rowley Regis, West Mids was downed by Storm Darragh. Quite special as it was host to two decent bunches of Mistietoe, not sure how common it is around the Brum and the Black Country, can’t think of many more records off hand. @ecorecord.bsky.social @bsbibotany.bsky.social

I know it’s on a bit of a tangent, to say the least, but could we have a mention for the “Pig on the wall” legend from Lower Gornal up here in the sunny Black Country, please?
Possibly try some metal paint used on models? I’ve heard of folk using it to cover scratches on scopes. I’m sure there’ll be others out there with more knowledge and experience
