A 2015(!!) study say that removing the parking would make things safer for everyone involved. But we cannot do that sort of thing. Because making the streets safer takes away free parking.

Parked cars observed close to intersections and residential and commercial driveways create
safety problems by blocking sight lines.
 Cars parked on the shoulder, particularly near Jenness State Beach and Pirates Cove, force high
volumes of bicycle and pedestrian traffic into the travel lane creating safety conflicts.
 Use of a private for-fee lot owned by a local motel suggests willingness by beach-goers to pay for
convenient parking.
 If the Town were to install parking kiosks along heavily used segments of Ocean Blvd. in order to
recover some costs associated with summer tourism activity, a first cut financial analysis indicates
this should provide net revenue for the town after accounting for capital and monitoring costs.

Pursuant to Federal Rule of Civil Procedure 65(d)(2), the
injunction binds (if they receive actual notice of the injunction): “(a) the Revocable Trust’s
officers, agents, servants, employees, and attorneys; and (b) other persons in active concert or
participation with the Revocable Trust or with anyone described in (a).” Id. at 2. Second, the
judgment imposes a $1,500,000 civil penalty against the Trust, payable to the SEC. Id. at 2–3.

Subject: Data Preservation for Cockpit Voice Recorder (CVR).
Purpose: This SAFO provides safety information to operators that have CVRs installed on their aircraft.
Background: On January 5, 2024, a B-737-9 operated by Alaska Airlines experienced an in-flight
separation of the left mid exit door (MED) plug and rapid depressurization during climb after takeoff from
Portland International Airport. One flight attendant and seven passengers received minor injuries; the
captain, the first officer, three flight attendants, and 164 passengers were uninjured; and the airplane
sustained substantial damage.
Discussion: The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) investigated the accident and, on July 10,
2025, proposed a number of safety recommendations (A-25-025) to the Federal Aviation Administration
(FAA). The NTSB concluded that Alaska Airlines’ procedures at the time of the accident were ineffective
in ensuring that the CVR data from the accident flight were preserved, resulting in the loss of critical
information for the investigation

Among the recommendations is one for FAA to require operators of airplanes equipped with a CVR to
incorporate guidance into company standard operating procedures, emergency protocols, and post-
incident and post-accident checklists. These materials would apply to both flightcrew and non-flightcrew
personnel and would detail actions to preserve CVR recordings as soon as practical after completion of a
flight with a reportable event.
Recommended Action: The FAA recommends that each operator who has a CVR installed confirm that
company manuals contain instructions that the CVR circuit breaker be pulled after a reportable event. The
instruction that the CVR circuit breaker is pulled could be included in flight operation manuals,
maintenance manuals, and dispatch manuals, increasing the likelihood that the task is accomplished.

Who has two thumbs and decided to smoke a few racks of ribs on the hottest day of the year? 🥵🤤 This guy! Used a cola-reduction marinade for sweetness in the sauce. Delicious, though I also remain slightly skeptical of the value of homemade BBQ sauce. So many decent commercial ones.

Any tips for preventing critters from trying to make a home in your car's air filter? Also, shout out to the dealer who wanted $112 to replace a $24 part, a job that took less than 15 minutes parked at AutoZone *including* going inside to buy the replacement.

Rocket Lab will purchase Iridium for ~$8bn in cash/stock. The deal gives $RKLB access to $IRDM's L-band spectrum and customer contracts, key to continued growth for the manufacturer/launch operator. Comes just after IRDM bought Aireon.

I try to cut the salmon into ~5oz pieces for consistent portion size later. Which means I also snack on the small ones while finishing it up. 😎 Final tip: when freezing, put bits of parchment paper between the pieces. Makes them come apart more easily later.

Smoked salmon brines for a while then overnight in the fridge to form the pellicle (details: bsky.app/profile/wand...). Then smoking tube for an hour of just smoke before a little bit of heat to finish the job. Takes a little longer with the layers, but overall more efficient timewise.

Mostly this: honest-food.net/how-to-smoke.... I skip the basting while smoking. I also smoke it on a grill, so the first hour is just smoke then ~225-250° until it is cooked, usually another 1.5-2 hours.

Loaded up the bike this morning for a grocery run. Pushed the limits of the paniers, but we're well stocked for the next several days. @linneaharts.bsky.social didn't think the watermelon would fit, but I made it work.

While I await details of the Brazilian team which also disputes the title of Inventor de letras gigantes, I must share this bit of detail which likely explains its (lack of) role as a regional jet.

Specifications details for the Dassault Falcon 10X, with the max takeoff weight of 115,000 pounds highlighted. That's about 30,000# heavier than could be operated by a US regional airline using the lower cost, outsourced model.
