Smoke-filled skies over the NH Seacoast this afternoon. Seeing the blue skies peeking through was great, but also made clear the impact. #nhwx
A 2015(!!) study say that removing the parking would make things safer for everyone involved. But we cannot do that sort of thing. Because making the streets safer takes away free parking.
I know most of my web stuff looks like I haven't updated it in nearly 20 years. But a special shout-out to this SSL issuer with a (c) 2008 footer on the site. But it still works, and their business is mostly pass through, so why bother changing.
One of the best bits of growing tomatoes is seeing the color gradient as they ripen. Plus, they're delicious.
Yeah, that's a giant hole in the side of the cowling. Uncontained failure, indeed.
A $1.5MM fine. Against a "trust" that holds $180MM in $TSLA among other assets. To help him defraud other investors and save $150MM along the way. What a fucking joke.
The NTSB has been begging the FAA for years to do more to ensure cockpit voice recorder data is available following incidents. Today the FAA suggested airlines should consider it. Not required. Just suggested. 🙄 #avgeek www.faa.gov/other_visit/...
Can't even really call this part of the grift given only 250 being made, but Boom is still out here selling a future that doesn't exist and likely will not. #avgeek
A couple months later and the wildflowers are coming in nicely. Every morning a few new ones are blooming. And we're already scheming on which section of the yard to kill/till/rewild for next year. 🏵️🌻🌼🪷
Who has two thumbs and decided to smoke a few racks of ribs on the hottest day of the year? 🥵🤤 This guy! Used a cola-reduction marinade for sweetness in the sauce. Delicious, though I also remain slightly skeptical of the value of homemade BBQ sauce. So many decent commercial ones.
Any tips for preventing critters from trying to make a home in your car's air filter? Also, shout out to the dealer who wanted $112 to replace a $24 part, a job that took less than 15 minutes parked at AutoZone *including* going inside to buy the replacement.
JetBlue's entry into the America250 livery game is meh. Some extra stickers on Vets in Blue. Definitely cheaper, and I can't imagine a full paint job fits in JetForward. But it is meh. #AvGeek $JBLU
Southwest's celebration of America250 continues with extra trading cards (ask a pilot for some) and a partnership with FilghtAware where N1776R (the one with the 250 livery) gets a special icon for tracking. $LUV #AvGeek
Rocket Lab will purchase Iridium for ~$8bn in cash/stock. The deal gives $RKLB access to $IRDM's L-band spectrum and customer contracts, key to continued growth for the manufacturer/launch operator. Comes just after IRDM bought Aireon.
I try to cut the salmon into ~5oz pieces for consistent portion size later. Which means I also snack on the small ones while finishing it up. 😎 Final tip: when freezing, put bits of parchment paper between the pieces. Makes them come apart more easily later.
Darn near perfect. Still juicy inside, well flavored and nice "skin" on it.
Smoked salmon brines for a while then overnight in the fridge to form the pellicle (details: bsky.app/profile/wand...). Then smoking tube for an hour of just smoke before a little bit of heat to finish the job. Takes a little longer with the layers, but overall more efficient timewise.
Some people call it meal prep. We don't eat the same thing all week, instead freezing lots of different things and rotating through them (and other fresh cooked). But 12# pork, 8# salmon, 6# chicken all underway today. 🤤🤤🤤
Mostly this: honest-food.net/how-to-smoke.... I skip the basting while smoking. I also smoke it on a grill, so the first hour is just smoke then ~225-250° until it is cooked, usually another 1.5-2 hours.
MHT is doing arrivals on 17 tonight, which means more plane spotting with the Fishercats. Also, we arrived at 545 for the 603 game, and it was in the middle of the third. Last night was a rainout so tonight is a doubleheader, each 7 innings w 40 minutes between.
Loaded up the bike this morning for a grocery run. Pushed the limits of the paniers, but we're well stocked for the next several days. @linneaharts.bsky.social didn't think the watermelon would fit, but I made it work.
So much has changed over the past 20 years. So many adventures together, career changes, and more. Here's to many, many, many more, @linneaharts.bsky.social.
Also, the stadium is directly under the departure path for RWY 35, so we got to watch a few planes, in addition to baseball.
Booking tickets for a minor league baseball game this week and have been presented with the opportunity for some seriously unhinged behavior. Trained by the 5-abreast airline configurations. Tempting.
While I await details of the Brazilian team which also disputes the title of Inventor de letras gigantes, I must share this bit of detail which likely explains its (lack of) role as a regional jet.
United's entry into the USA250 livery game is here and it is...fine? I don't love the light blue globe in the darker blue, but I'll get over it. The quotes included in the press release, however, are really terriblamazing. $UAL #AvGeek
A bit is nature in our yard. The wild strawberries continue to spread across the lawn, and the birdhouses have residents. #nhlife #newhampsters
