I'm delighted with how this Coaster Cozy knitted up in the handspun yarn. So pretty. And the self-striping made it super easy. Pattern is from my own Color Lovin Coaster Cozies.

Finished another small batch of yarn (close to 40 yds) on the spindle. This was started a week or so ago. One great feature of woolen yarns is how quickly they dry. #handspinning #woolenspinning

Took yesterday off from spinning to knit with my handspun. I'm relishing the texture of the woolen yarn after its bath. I did card another batch of rolags. Come to think of it, I did sneak a bit of spindle spinning at work, but not much to count for anything. #ShowMeYourKnits #WhatsOnYourNeedles

Verdict: separating rolags from batt sooner (fewer turns) did yield rolags that I can spin without really predrafting

Carded up a few more rolags. I'm trying to achieve a lighter rolag on the drum carder, but the toothy fiber might be partly to blame. This time I made more rolags from the single batch. Next time I will try loading less fiber onto the carder. Now to spin them! #spinningwool #fiberprep

A garter stitch lace scarf or stole with diamond motifs. The pale grayish blue barely contrasts with the grey furniture. Use of KnitCompanion's chart reading tools has made this very easy to come back to (and much easier to knit)

So I did take out my Stonecrop to the laundromat and work on it a bit. I had to go digging into the reserve WIPs. Apparently it's been so long that the pattern reader I use has been improved since then, which really helps streamline my knitting process.

I've been productive with finishing a few #spinning projects lately. Here's the Feederbrook Farm BFL I spun and plied on a big Bosworth #spindle

Okay, @youcancallmemel.bsky.social I really like this now. I made a 3-ply plying ball, and I ran into a bit of trouble with the tensioning, as has been my record. Fiber is Into the Whirled superwash Cheviot, colorway Fruition. Spun on spindles, plied on an Eel Wheel. #spinningwool #spinningyarn

Parking the spindle during chain plying is key, and perhaps the biggest difference from chain plying on a wheel. Also important is keeping hold of a little loop that can be reopened for creating the next loop

Pinching the yarn with a little doodle of a loop during parking the spindle sets up the next place to pull a loop through

Holding the working strand at an angle from the doodle of a loop in a Y shape helps open up the loop.

I just did a bit of chain-plying on the spindle, so I thought I'd try to share a few moments (a bit awkwardly when juggling the phone and spinning) Getting started: establishing a loop, building enough of a leader to secure the yarn on the spindle

I tied a loop, then pulled a loop through that loop. This loop actually came undone before I could get started, so I had to redo it.

I placed this loop on the hook of the spindle and pulled a length through. This was the moment when the initial loop came undone.

The key was to start adding twist in the plying direction to help se use the loop. Once a long enough leader was plied, I pin ged this end and removed it from the hook

I held the leader end against the shaft amd began winding it around for a couple inches, then began twirling the spindle as I angled the yarn back down to create x's. I call this the ballerina slipper move

Got a bit of #SpindleSpinning in during a moment out among the trees. For #PlyOnTheFly technique, a key is saving a little doodle of the loop for picking up later, and leaving enough single to trap it.
