Lover of the arts, still, a believer in humanity and science; master of nothing. Going up river with my son now firmly at the bow, my brother always at the sterrn, and me, senses fully awake tucked in the middle, taking in all the beauty.
All true, but you help make up for that. You are a wonderful person Zee. I'm absolutly with you and I can never forget how much more this affects you than me. Be well Zee! 🙂 This magnificent photo by the great American photographer Ansel Adams displays the majesty of your great country. Cheers.
Very nice. I once took a ferry from Victoria tp Seattle. It was so beautiful. It started my 20 years wandering around the planet. Came home at 50. 🙂 If you live anywhere near the west coast you are truely blessed. Oregon, Washington and California are stunning places. Thank you. Be well.
That's great Tony. Happy for you. My first experience was with Hidetoshi Nakata, a soccer player who went on to play in Serie A and the Premier League. That was pandemonium. Then with Ichiro Suzuki, Hideki Matsui and on and on MLB. I loved Japan and my beautiful son is Japanese Canadian. 🙂Cheers.
HI Sophie! So happy for you. I will personaly ask the keeper of the universe for perfect weather for you and be looking forward to a successful photographic journey.
I love the Ukranian people. With you in Canada where the other day I met and introduced myself to a young Ukranian man who came to Canada four years ago working in my local mall and told him just that, that he is loved. Always with you Yaroslava. I hope you can find a way stay cool. Bye for now.
Sorry to hear this Sophie. As I get older I think of how precious my dear friends are and I'm sure this is a sad time for you. From what I know of you, you will have shared wonderful memories and adventures with Om Malik. That is a blessing. Thinking of you in Canada. Take care. Sorry for this loss.
Saddened, but grateful today for the life and work of a favorite artist of mine David Hockney who passed today at the age of 88. Whenever I find myself in a field out in the country near my brother's place sketching I am always reminded of you and North Yorkshire. #RIP
Some time ago I came across a video called the "Art of Seeing." A film of the artist David Hockney who passed on today. Years later an angel flew me to Amsterdam where I saw this painting. Forever grateful. @sophiecarr.bsky.social I always think of David when I see your beautiful bluebells.
As I've made my way to an older stage in life my world has become smaller as have my vistas. Lucky that I can experience 4 seasons along my river with always something special to notice like this on my river walks. To the one who sees so well... be well.
With a heavy heart and much gratitude I bid adieu to the wonderful Stephen #Colbert. As your northern neighbour I say please #USA don't let evil win. With love and respect from #Canada . Big Love to all and big love to Stephen for being one of the good guys. #TheLateShow
A steep driveway! Now you're putting me to shame, but I'll keep trying. 🙂 I have a feeling it's very special indeed. I'm a talkitive person and on a walk I saw an older gentlemen working on his garden and complimented him on it. It was beautiful. He said come and see our backyard...
Long ago I found myself on Kuto Bay beach on Isle of Pines. It's the most stunning powder beach I've ever stepped on. I Walked back to my tent along a tree lined road on both sides as though in a tunnel. looking up was the most delicate pattern of leaves silhouetted against sunlight. It was magic.
I really needed this. Events of the day ( #Canada 's southern troubled neighbour) have been wearing me down, but sometimes when you need it the keeper of the universe pays a visit and comes bearing gifts like this. Try not to let the bad guys get you down. Still trying. Cheers everyone.
Picturing you hauling all that shredded bark. I'm betting you are impressive doing it. Me, I'm creaking like the Tin Man from the Wizard of Oz after doing a 9 klm walk today. The super El Nino is coming. Hear it will be super hot... From two days ago. Enjoy the garden process. Cheers to you.
Ed your words spoke to me because I need to hear and listen to them myself. Take care and if I listened to my own advise find a slice of beauty somewhere. It would help me if we warmed up a bit where I live and we'll see you here down the line.🙂
Appreciate you responding to me. Perhaps we could have a zoom meeting or you could start a 10 week course on the finner details of basketball for artists 🙂 and explain to me what I'm missing. Kidding about the Zoom thing. Enjoy the game. Can't make it, too far, can't afford the gas from Ottawa.
OMG, listening to this seriously damaged individual talking to children in the Oval Office was pure Looney Tunes. Am I dreaming, like since 2016? Cheers.
"I definitly over plant." 🙂 Nice. Sounds like how I definitly like to add artwork and framed photos to my livingroom wall in salon style. It reminds me of a rich life. That said, when working in a garden I didn't feel at all that I was even breathing and totally one with what I am doing. Cheers.
2/2... gave me a natural affinity for their paintings. I came to see and feel Emily Carr's work much later in life. My father always said his religion was found in the forest. She captures that for me in her paintings. I used to where a pin in art school that said, "You gotta have art! That's me.🙂
My friend, you teach me a lot about myself and though I try I fail at times to live up to my own standards. You take good care now and I do hope without knowing that you can get about and find beauty or create it within your home. My little home is my sanctuary for my gallery and memories. Cheers.
I hate to see this. As a Canadian I am deeply sadened by the idea that millions of Americans vote against their own self interests. Why is the USA intent on causing such suffering on its own people. I recieve excellent and timely care and all I have to do is present this card. You have been lied to.
Yet, in the most powerful nation in the world NO one, NO justice system, No politician, No checks and balances can or will stop him. This is owned by the American people and clearly too that the now tattered and torn constitution is not worth the paper it was written on. Stunned and sad in Canada.
Sophie, you never cease to surprise me. These photos are alive with texture and detail and I love the soft light. Very special Sophie. When I first saw them I immediately thought of some of Gustav Klimt's landscapes. Thank you very much for these.
No, it's at Hog's Back Falls near me, but reminds me of a great place where I used to go camping on little islands where the Group of seven used to paint in Georgian Bay, like in this painting by Group of Seven artist, Frederick H. Varley called "Stormy Weather."
2/2 I built a zen garden in a Buddhist monestary in Thailand in my vagabond days. It was helpful for me. Then, lying down on the grass and weeding flower bed gardens just gave me so much peace. (weird maybe) Here is another favorite by JEH McDonald, G of 7. "The Tangled Garden" Enjoy your evening.
Great movie. Devastating to watch. Year after year the same mistakes are made. Veterans pay a horrendous price on behalf of there leaders. In 2026 in a nation that always says. "And God bless our troops" their leader calls them losers and guts their VA. Born in 1957, this film brings it all back.
Great photo. That said, the image is very Tokyo. It could be anywhere in Japan, but Shinjuku like Shibuya used in may films is special. This is Kabukicho in Shinjuku, a red light district with all the undertones that come with it. In the rain it could be straight out of "Blade Runner." Cheers.
As I look through my balcony door treetops have sprouted buds and are turning green. For me a senior now spring is like rebirth, but I'm thinking of you and my Ukranian brothers and sisters and how many springs you have experienced in a time of war. Breath it in with big love from Canada.
Please, someone tell me how I'm supposed to retain some compassion for my neighbours to the south of me. Everyday democracy dies by a 1000 cuts in the #USA. Your crime boss is actively working for the beast in Moscow and NO American can do anything about it. What? Seriously? Just yuk! Yuk! Yuk!
