I forget what TTRPG system it is that lets a character clear mental illness when they spend time doin a little activity, but for me it would be charcoal grillin. I love it. the meditative patience of kindled fire. and then magnificent food. Today it’s chicken and summer vegetables. 1/3(?)

It rained yesterday so this is goin down now. Jerk Chicken; tryin something really out there. Gods I love charcoal-smoking meat.

Got out to the garden today to do the first “hilling” on the fancy fingerling potatoes. Beautiful time, very satisfying to tend small green things. then made rice, fried turnip cake, and kimchi omelette for a late lunch. May everyone have such a pleasant sunday.

I did it! Used a mix of mozz & oaxaca, no potatoes cause I was lazy. Did half the pies with leftover calabasitas and beans, half with seasoned ricotta and fresh tomato. Chile colorado I made from powder with pork loin from the meat share. Our standard 1/3rd redeemer whole wheat overnight crust.

Hell yeah, I love this idea and The Ugly Machine’s pieces. I made this pair of linen pants myself! Broke down my favorite old levis, translated them into a pattern, made a five pocket version with a yoke and a trouser version with a higher waist, dart, and welted pockets. Comfy in summer!

First sprouts coming up from the seed potatoes! These small seed tubers are saved from “La Ratte” fingerlings from fedco I harvested last year. Had good luck in seven gallon pots, looking forward to them as smashed potatoes again this year.

This is Zoe! Adopted in 2024 as a senior lady with kidney disease, blind as a bat, but comfy with supportive care. She is very polite but has tremendous personality, and her primary method of communicating when she wants attention in the morning is with a ridiculous old-lady scream. A delight!

Legit! Old man was in the navy and often expressed a similar sentiment. When I made my coat out of waxed canvas I was surprised at how well you can work it just with cold rolling and finger pressing. Still happy with that collar for somethin made without ironing.

Wanted to take some time and make baked beans that taste as good as they looked on the can; always disappointed when eating them as a kid. think i hit the mark! Orca beans with jalapeño, kielbasa, pork chop, mirepoix, and tons of onion and garlic. Housemate baked fresh cornbread.

Everything is fuckin brutal but check out the great deal I got on oyster mushrooms (both King and regular) at Hmart today.

Ooh! I made this one out of scraps of the oilproof cotton I used as the liner of an oilskin coat, for cold pressing the oilskin. I then decorated it appropriately as a “cold ironing ham” (because fey are weak to cold iron in stories)

check it out!!! In these times I’m clinging to whatever wins I can get; three fresh Massachusetts-grown Yuzu. First year it’s set fruit; dropped ~3x as many. I wish y’all could smell it, it fills an entire room in minutes with such a fresh and summery aroma. gonna make one into syrup tonight.

@nora.zone It came! It’s beautiful! I actually sobbed a little? Hope that’s not weird; I have been so stressed and exhausted, and everything is so difficult. When I unwrapped and saw it, I felt the surprise and delight of walking through the garden in summer and seeing friendly strawberry plants.

backed a kickstarter for an (more) accurate mammoth action figure and it finally came the other day. went out in the first snow storm of the year to take pictures and dream.

hell yes tweed. Go bold! the nicest garment I own is this coat in a tweed that’s quite distinctive, I love it.
