Between Knotty Ash and North Cave. Posts about bikes, Lib Dems 🔶 and occasionally intensive care medicine. All views own and probably not that interesting.
Today I have been round the Preston #GuildWheel. This, and the cycling infrastructure Preston is building is really impressive, and even on a random Tuesday morning it was well used @johnpotterld.bsky.social
If only there were a photo showing how effective hi-viz and blue flashing lights were.
I had to get the tardigrade violin out when they changed the BIK rules on crew cab pickups.
Distinctly unhappy with the @ficm.bsky.social proposal to increase fees in a cost of living crisis that’s affecting everyone to a greater or lesser extent #ICMSky
Interestign take on #ActiveTravel here in the Telegraph… www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2026/06...
Good work by @theguardian.com looking for a stock image of a typical Dutch fietser for this article
This panel from this Brett Hamil cartoon says it all really. It’s really not unreasonable to very slightly inconvenience drivers to make our towns and cities nicer and healthier #ActiveTravel
I take the single white glove and raise you the Nicholas Cage cushion cover Amazon delivered instead of the Elmer’s glue sticks I’d actually ordered.
As I’m sure @dreadships.bsky.social can point out they mean “naval vessels” unless someone has recommissioned HMAV Ardennes
It’s a South Park reference, for when a corporate body announces a plan to achieve something with no robust plan to get there. So, *exactly* like the GM #CleanAirZone, but can also be applied to any plan to increase #ActiveTravel without robust infrastructure or LTNs.
That seems like a massive missed opportunity, though given this in the supporting documentation that shouldn’t be a surprise #ActiveTravel
Cutting the cost of alternatives to private car use is absolutely the right policy, but there’s no mention of #ActiveTravel despite this being in line with our core values. We absolutely do not want the #InducedDemand that goes with cheaper private car use #EvidenceBasedPolicy
