"The Forever War" by Joe Haldeman... It's a GREAT READ, but I keep taking breaks to learn more about Vietnam (...otherwise it feels like I'm missing the overt/subvert parallels (due to the generation gap)). Not my usual reading approach, but it's a classic--it feels disrespectful not to invest. 😂

Agreed. It's "$5,000/per delivery" but *5K/Month* DOES sound fair (still a weird proposal, just raise wages and make life affordable). My guess is that his base will THINK it's the latter until they're unpleasantly surprised.

That seems like a limiting understanding, as "vampiric fantasy" is its own subgenre, while "urban" seems to cast a much wider net. That said, the definitions are largely malleable and I'm sure there's a fair bit of overlap--this would include "grounded" or "low" fantasy. To each their own, though. 🤷‍♂️

Be prepared to go on a roller coaster as you navigate Apostate. Between the character development and the plot twists, this novel will keep you on your toes. This novel follows the POV of multiple characters as they navigate a dystopian era. Like Game of Thrones, do not find yourself attached to any one character! I appreciated each character's development and how they tied together. I must say that for this being Mr. Crumps first novel, I was thoroughly impressed. In comparison to his older work (short stories and poems) you can see the literary improvements; the attention to detail, enticing character development and profound dialogue.

Noting the physical similarities, I point out this fact by commenting "Dunston checks in {ellipses} to the White House," along with a GIF of a chubby monkey (orangutan) sitting on a rock with a smaller monkey, and putting on sunglasses. A silly joke. No real attention. No harm done--or so I think.

Two days later, there's a reply to my "Tr*mp looks like an orangutan" joke. Turns out, I've slighted both the "Dunston Checks In" and primate communities. A representative from their coalition replied to my comment "Please don't compare pleasant, peaceful, orangutans to the worst members of *your* species."... I responded with "My apologies." and a crying-laughing emoji. Consider me checked. Lol.
