Dark Green Fritillary at Jugger Howe today. Bee Orchid and distant Golden Plover (pair) on Fylingdales. So interesting watching that part of the moors recover after last year’s fire. Juv Wheatear, 3 Quail and 3 Red Grouse also of interest. @northyorksbirds.bsky.social @nybirdnews.bsky.social

A bit of beach combing yesterday at South Gare produced a few interesting finds. Green Sea Urchin, Grey Topshell and the remain of a European Lobster.

Stumbled across this newly fledged blackbird at Hilla Green, North Yorkshire this morning. Feared the worst but I’m pleased to report it was seen later on being fed by its mother under some gorse. Also spent time watching a family party of Marsh Tits in the same area. #ukbirds

Recently spent a few days in the Parc Natural de l'Albufera south of Valencia. Fascinating place and habitat - salt marshes, sand dunes and pine forests, rice fields. #birds #ornithology

Two boar in urban Warsaw. It isn’t unusual for them to traverse the green fringes along the banks of the Wisła, and occasionally find their way to the bigger city parks. But these two were in a very built up area with a busy road network. #WildBoar #Poland

Snowy walk around Falsgrave Park and Lightfoot’s Lane today. Deep in places but beautiful to be out in. Glad I didn’t have to drive!

Potter Brompton Carr yesterday afternoon. Marsh Harriers coming in to roost. Gulls overhead. Little Egrets doing some last minute feeding and Tree Sparrows forming a large roosting flock. #scarborough

No crops or close field margins on either side. No risk to traffic. A hedge chopped back to the bone for no reason whatsoever. Our policy-makers and farmers have got so much to answer for.
