Joe Peacock
@brumgreenjoe
Green Party councillor for Billesley, Birmingham. Promoted by C. Charles, both at Unit 3 Block 2, Wednesbury Trading Estate, WS10 7JN. He/him
Yesterday, my wife and I went to the opening of a new exhibition at Seventh Circle on medical misogyny reflected through art. Thanks to the curator, Sophie Mason, for putting together an excellent and thought-provoking exhibition. "Bleeding Out" until 9th August: www.svnthcrcl.com/exhibitionse...
Birmingham needs to change its culture from one of disposal to reusing, repairing and recycling. We need to give people opportunities to work in this field, building skills and feeling valued. Jericho's The Reusers is a shining example of this, which I visited yesterday. www.thereusers.uk
I went to the open day at my local fire station yesterday. It was a fantastic community event, plus I had the opportunity to talk to fire crews on the frontline. They are dealing with the ever increasing wildfire threat caused by climate change. Even in urban areas, it’s affecting their wellbeing!
Climate breakdown is here. There are fires burning all over Europe and the new PM wants to drill for more oil! 🤯
I went to Ward End fire station today for their open day. As an elected member of the WMFRA committee now, I will be spending much more time at fire stations over the next few years, so it's good to travel to different parts of the city (and region) to see how they differ.
Reform’s motion to Birmingham City Council was absolute performative nonsense. They couldn’t make any coherent arguments about how removing city of sanctuary status would benefit anyone in the city. That’s because it wouldn’t. A complete waste of council time that was rightly voted down.
We've just reached 50 days since @cpgarghan.bsky.social and I were elected to represent Billesley on Birmingham City Council. It's a great honour and we're just getting started with the things we want to do. Please get in touch via email if you're a resident who wants help with a local issue.
We did our first big litter pick since the election today. Great to be out there with some fantastic volunteers making a difference on Trittiford Road 💚
Here we are. A coalition of 40 councillors determined to do our best for the city of Birmingham. I am taking on the role of deputy cabinet member for city operations and digital. I want to help take us from the bottom of the league for recycling to the top half over the next four years.
One of the things I have enjoyed most this week is getting out to meet people who are passionate about protecting green spaces. On Monday, Friends of the Dingles and today Friends of Trittiford Park. Plus I was out litter picking with Friends of Billesley Common on Saturday.
Reform UK have not taken action against this man. He now represents them on Sunderland Council. I'd love to know whether any of the Birmingham Reform councillors agree with his views. www.msn.com/en-gb/news/w...
I’m so proud to be one of 19 @brumgreens.bsky.social councillors on Birmingham City Council! In Billesley, hope triumphed convincingly over hate. We got 45% of the vote and 1,200 votes more than our closest Reform candidate!
I have worked for this for years and now the day is nearly here. In under 36 hours, polls open for the most important election of my lifetime. I could make a real difference in the area where I live if enough people vote for me and @cpgarghan.bsky.social
John Cotton is not fooling anyone. What he's announced today doesn't end the bin strikes - although he could have done 10 months ago, not 10 days before the election. He's pretended he doesn't want bi-weekly collections and that he's fixed his own mess: birmingham.greenparty.org.uk/2026/04/27/w...
Thanks to all the fantastic volunteers who came to help us keep Reform out by knocking doors in Billesley today 💚
The @birminghamdispatch.bsky.social is normally very good, but I can't help thinking there's a typo in today's roundup. Can anyone spot it? (Sorry, for not doing alt text on this. I do for all other posts!)
Trump really is doing a great job serving the Kremlin, isn’t he? Comrade Farage will be delighted how much his friends are benefiting.
If Birmingham Labour try this trick again, remember the results in Caerphilly and Gorton & Denton. @brumgreens.bsky.social candidates are taking the fight to Labour and Reform all over the city. @cpgarghan.bsky.social and I speak to hundreds of people who say they will not be voting Labour again!
Love is … when your wife spends weeks researching how to make a vegan slicing sausage to surprise you on your birthday because you can no longer buy them anywhere!
The fridge is now properly on brand #VoteGreen @brumgreens.bsky.social @zackpolanski.bsky.social
Privileged to work alongside @cpgarghan.bsky.social on our campaign to turn Billesley Green. It's a battle to keep Reform out. Everyone's fed up of the old parties, so we have to convince them that hope can triumph over hate. #VoteGreen If you can help us deliver or canvass, get in touch.
Great to spend some time with @greenpartyhan.bsky.social in Kings Heath Park today. She has inspired so many to see we can beat Labour and Reform 💚
You can tell a lot about a man by the company he keeps. Nigel just can't stop sucking up to this monster. Kier Starmer must distance our country from what the USA and Israel are doing.
Anyone who lives in Billesley ward and wants to show their support, hit me up for a poster 💚
I am standing for election this May and, if elected, I look forward to working together with all anti-racists to keep Birmingham an anti-racist, inclusive, multicultural, and welcoming city.
The #GreenSurge comes to Billesley! Amazing day yesterday with 55 @brumgreens.bsky.social campaigners out on the streets helping us to keep Reform out and #GetGreensElected 💚 Thanks for inspiring so many people @zackpolanski.bsky.social!
Let’s make hope normal again in Birmingham this May! @zackpolanski.bsky.social @mothinali.bsky.social @rachelmillward.bsky.social and our 5 MPs are leading the way nationally, but we need to make sure the second city goes Green! @brumgreens.bsky.social
I saw someone post this screenshot from Politico London Playbook on LinkedIn yesterday. Even if the extent of Reform's fascist tendencies were overplayed, just look at how they talk to business leaders! They cannot ever be allowed near power, or we're all screwed!
Like all @brumgreens.bsky.social campaigners, @cpgarghan.bsky.social and I work really hard all year round to make a difference in Billesley. This figure is from litter picks we have have organised and carried out ourselves, but doesn't include when we go to workdays organised by other groups.
My message on beating Reform in Birmingham. Support for Labour has gone everywhere. Come out and support the Greens to help us win seats like Billesley 💚
