The trade paperback collecting John Byrne's original comic book mini-series Man of Steel. Originally six issues, this is collected into one book. This was when Byrne rebooted Superman for DC back in the mid to late 80s. The Man of Steel mini-series was his first foray, setting the stage for the new Superman. I had the mini-series but sold it years ago when I sold my comics. I have been wanting to read this again due to Adam Mallinger's blog talking about old Superman comics.

I got this on ebay. It was only $10, and probably $16 or $17 with shipping. But its in great shape. Doesn't even look like it's been read.

Name a TV show you’re positive no one remembers but you. I see a lot of contenders...but the champ is here!

A TV Guide ad for a TV show called "Salvage-1". It is, inexplicably, about Andy Griffith somehow owning and operating a space ship from his backyard. He uses the space ship (that he lifts off from his backyard) to *I think* get space debris...? That I'm hoping is worth a lot of money because I feel like flying to space is not cheap. I think for many years I thought this show was a fever dream. I think it only ran for 8 episodes.

I actually just saved the pic of the cutout from a post on here a few weeks ago!

So after many years of the same one, I finally changed my desktop wallpaper! This is an ode to one of my favorite old school video games, ADVENTURE, on the original @atari.com 2600.

A desktop wallpaper with elements from the Atari 2600 video game Adventure-including dragons that look more like ducks than dragons (but that is 100% their charm). The background is a green to yellow gradient. I also put a little black gradient on the castle because in the pure yellow it was just too much.

I also have my 'mega folders' integrated into the wallpaper itself. I do those, and then I put a folder in them and make that folder invisible. I like it: its like highlighting which are my main topic folders and then there are subfolders inside. I put a little layer shadow on them this time, which I really like. Makes them pop a little.

Me too! And @leahfromsd.bsky.social helped me realize that the poster for the script doesn't necessarily have to be a poster for the movie. You can take a key element and emphasize that.

The album cover for Jay Ferguson's album that had the hit song Thunder Island. An absolute Yacht Rock banger. The cover is something else. His blue striped shirt is almost totally unbuttoned (because of course it is cause its the 70s). He's wearing some kind of sand colored sandals. Behind him are tropical palms against a blue sky. Ah! I'm painting the back panel (whatever its called) of the stairs. I kinda want to montage to when this is all done.

A staircase. The top 3 steps have the back plate between the steps painted. The two below it are sanded and ready to paint. It is a sloooow process.

So this was a cool find! I wanted to put up some string lights around the deck downstairs. Using this, I was able to plug them in and then turn them on and off with the Pico remote I linked to it. Works great!

The box for the Lutron Caseta Smart Outdoor Plug-In Switch. It's a device that allows you to plug in something (like holiday lights) and turn them on and off with a Lutron Caseta remote control.

The box for a Lutron Caseta Pico remote. This is a paddle style remote that looks like a decora switch. It comes with the remote, the wall mount, and the switch cover. You can tie this in to a Caseta dimmer, and-wham-you have an instant 3-way switch. I definitely recommend them!

So we are three episodes into this series (halfway) and LOVE it! If you like Monk, Elsbeth, High Potential you'll like this. And the score is adapted from Beethovan's music. Each episode is based on a different piece. Very good so far! It's on Britbox-which has a 7 day free trial.

I recently got this back from a friend of mine. The most expensive anime thing I ever bought!

The laserdisc set of the anime series Maison Ikkoku. It was a slipcover case that housed the entire series on 24 laserdiscs.

I think I found a new show for my wife and I. I was visiting friends last weekend, and they love this British show called 'Would I Lie To You'. One of the panelists, David Mitchell, stars as LUDWIG, a puzzle maker who impersonates his (missing) twin brother, a policeman, and solves crimes.

I saw this today on Tumblr. In honor of the Ides of March, this is a very cool possible reinterpretation of Caesar's famous final words. I thought this was fascinating!

Below that is a photo of a page from a book. It starts mid-sentence: "...with his toga and let himself fall.' Suetonius adds that, according to some reports, he said in Greek: 'Kai su, teknon' (which Shakespeare turned into the Laton 'Et tu, Brute?'). It literally means 'You too, child'. but what Caesar may have intended by the words isn't clear. Tempest cites an 'important article' by James Russell (1980) 'that has often been overlooked'. Russell points out that the words 'kai su' often appears on curse tablets, and suggests that Caesar's last words were not 'the emotional parting declaration of a betrayed man to one he had treated like a son' but more along the lines of 'See you in hell, punk'."

You know that great feeling when you totally forgot you bought something on ebay and it shows up? (This was only $25 too! I couldn't believe it).

A toy replica of the original Romulan Bird of Prey from the original Star Trek series. It is still in the packaging. It says Star Trek Legends with the 50th anniversary designation (making this about 10 years old now). I have always loved the o.g. Bird of Prey. One of my favorite Star Trek ships.

Luke and Leia from the original Star Wars. It's the moment where they just left the Death Star in the Falcon. It's a bit of a lull in the action. And Luke is saying that he can't believe Ben is gone. But the caption of this picture brings up a really good point: "When your home planet exploded a few hours ago but a man you just met is feeling sad about his martial-arts mentor."

I do think it's funny-and fitting-that the thumbnail for the #scriptsky tag is Barton Fink, a tortured, unappreciated screenwriter. 😂
