Oh no. Not for the first time since...Thursday? Possibly the most desperate bit of doom reporting I've ever seen!
Blown away by Guy Claxton and Emily Poel's book "Bodies of Learning: How Embodiment Science Transforms Education." It presents to us an overwhelming body of research to argue that we must overhaul education systems in order for learners to thrive. Moving, feeling, doing...all critical to learning.
'Cycling Through Water' goes through a pond in Limburg where you walk or cycle at head height to the water and it's lovely. There are loads of quirky sculptures in the middle of fields or unusual cycling/walking paths in Belgium. The govt realise that art and nature are essential to human wellbeing.
He never said he was a spokesperson for them. This is what he said. And did.
An amazing initiative. In Belgium, trainee doctors, offer a 'clinic' where children can bring their 'sick' soft toys for consultations and treatments. Its aim is to demystify hospitals so that they feel less afraid, and to show them the kinds of careers that exist in medicine. Our Y2s loved it.
#Brewed26 Next up @ruthswailes.bsky.social talking about the importance of an enabling environment in education.
The inimitable @samtwiselton.bsky.social and @keziah70.bsky.social at #brewed26 talking about the powerful bonds of women’s personal and professional networks that led to #WomenEd
@markfinnis.bsky.social at #brewed26 - it’s all about the relationships.
Lovely to be here at #BrewEd in Wakefield with the rebel forces in education. @hywelroberts.bsky.social kicking us off with warmth.
16 years since Gove's 'revolution'. 16 years since he labelled teachers 'enemies of promise.' 16 years of 'one size fits all' cherry picked research. It's failed. Children are not well. Today @wholeeducation.bsky.social's 'From Attending to Thriving' conference said 'enough'. It's time for change.
So proud of middle child. First major institutional exhibition at Home in Manchester. Grateful to every art teacher he had who cheered him along the way.
Last snowy, snuggly day before we head back to work tomorrow. Looking forward to seeing the children and staff and hoping this is it now and we won't be having the 'will we/won't we' snow day dilemmas this week
A week of all things early childhood...great to have @ruthswailes.bsky.social with us this week - both in and out of school!
My son got married at the weekend and it was truly the most joyful day of my life. Complete with a north v south cricket match between the ceremony and reception 😂
Driving through Switzerland is incredible. We skipped the tunnel and took the mountain pass.
The Monnaie Munt in Brussels - lovely little cultural afternoon escape from the heat. What a gorgeous building.
Grote Begijnhof, Leuven. Now part of KU Leuven university but formerly a commune of women. Very pretty on this lovely Spring day.
Speaking of incoherent and impracticable...you can ban trans women from sport because sex is immutable but you can also ban trans men from the same sport because sex is mutable. Oh, wait.
Little cycle through the forest into Brussels today. Cherry blossom, lovely parks and the EU. It's remarkable how bicycle friendly this country is. From bridges that span major roads to cycle lanes right through the city.
