I love my Scion xB, but Toyota doesn't fully understand the potential that car still has. That said, after going to the Shift Society meet, I think I understand now why people modify their CR-Vs from the 90's. Plus, did you know Ford makes racing vans? Ford Supervan 4.2!!! Your move, Toyota...
Funny enough, I was just leaving my place on Monday when wouldn't you know, I found this sitting outside my front door waiting for me. Thanks again @phnxprodscomics.bsky.social for the opportunity to contribute to this project.
Went to a Shift Society car meet yesterday and did a sketch of this Nissan Skyline R34. Gave it to the owner who appreciated it.
And she looked too cool rocking that Popeye shirt while working on Nausicaä.
Special comics gallery show happening in Ann Arbor at the @clusterspace.bsky.social, in conjunction with @aadl.org's A2CAF, sponsored by @athenaeumcomicart.bsky.social. Opening reception tomorrow (6/12) from 5pm-8pm.
Got something fun in the mail today that will help me with my hunt for information. 📚🏛🔍
Don't suppose anyone may know of any old heads in comics who have photos of BayCon (San Jose) from the 1980s? Possibly 1986 specifically? Looking for some reference materials.
Hanging out with @mfeazell.bsky.social yesterday, getting the next issue of the mini comic anthology "5 O'clock Shadow" ready. Cover by yours truly.
Been studying from this book for a while now. Doesn't include anything from the movie, but it's very comprehensive when it comes to the anime series. Great reference if you can scoop a copy, but seems like copies on ebay are getting prohibitively expensive, so good luck.
If Google got +13,000 pieces of feedback like this within 24 hours, you would figure someone at Google would take notice. Google really needs to take a hint already. Shout out @edmorrish.com
And just as an example, Akira Toriyama owned Dr. Slump, Dragon Ball, Sandland, etc. and Shonen Jump (Shueisha) published it. This helps with the pipeline from manga to anime. Kirkman owns Invincible, Walking Dead, Super Dinosaur, etc. and Image Comics publishes it. That then leads to the shows.
Not surprising that Sony is pushing Bandai Namco and Crunchyroll to use Ai slop for anime. Sunrise was already being pushed to leverage shoddy 3D CGI, and generative Ai is a dream come true for c suite executives at Sony. Time to Boycott Sony, Bandai Namco, Crunchyroll and Disney, Marvel, etc.
Where do you go for comics news, reviews, critiques, interviews, and more? "Comics" meaning comic books, zines, mini-comics, ashcans, manga, floppies, bande dessinée, graphic novels, comic strips, webcomics, trade paper backs, anthologies, etc.
A good example of a self-anthology of sorts is a classic, Love And Rockets from @fantagraphics.bsky.social. Each issue has a mix of stories by Jaime and Gilbert Hernandez. These stories are later collected into volumes, either for dedicated narratives, characters, or general collections.
How you can serialize your original comics: • Post on your website • Make mini-comics • Make floppies • Submit to anthologies • Make your own anthologies (DIY) • Fina a publisher to print your anthology • Post on social media • Post on webcomic platforms Plenty of options and opportunities.
This news dropping the same day my Google Community account was disabled because I was sharing my concerns about Google's Ai, Gemini. I think it's safe to say that tech companies are desperate to push Ai on us, they will silence you on their platforms so it can be "business as usual."
I highly recommend subscribing to the Billy Ireland newsletter since they share some extra details not seen on their social posts or even the website.
Also this: "COMITIA is an exhibition and sales event for original works only, where professional and amateur authors present and sell their manga and other works created by themselves. Secondary works of copyrighted material (fan art, fanzine, or fan fiction/parodies) may not be sold." - Comitia
It was great getting to hang out with @phnxprodscomics.bsky.social this past weekend at Detroit Drink & Draw after they wrapped up the day prior at @liczfest.com. 🎉 Not sure what those pages are? Want to hear about Lansing Independent Comics & Zine Fest? 🤔 Check out the blog post to learn more! 👀
@cacodayum.bsky.social is correct @o.simardcasanova.net, this post is real, and likely a sign that Ai slop coding is the cause of the issues. @jay.bsky.team & @toni.bsky.team... for shame! bsky.app/profile/jay....
And it's very possible that this was caused by Ai slop coding, at least according to @jay.bsky.team. I have to imagine that @support.bsky.team is getting bombarded today with tickets. bsky.app/profile/jay....
